Heroes Never Die

3rd Person POV

"Guardian, Guardian, can you hear me? Ah, yes, it worked! You are alive!"
Ethan started breathing. He sat up, thinking he was out of his mind.
"Where am I, what are you?" Ethan asked.
"I am an Artificial Intelligence, an AI. My military codename is GHOST-117."
"So, you are a robot?" Ethan asked.
"Correct. I have resurrected you to help me fight against the Flood. You died in the war against them, Ethan, and I need you again."
"I have been resurrected by a freaking robot, and you expect me to treat this like it happens every day."
"There are others that you will help me find to resurrect." Ghost said, completely ignoring Ethan's statement.
"Wait! There are Guardians alive today that can help you. Why do you need to resurrect already dead ones when there are thousands alive currently?"
Ghost replied to Ethan's statement with something that shocked him: "There are only a few hundred Guardians left, humanity is on the edge of extinction. It is your destiny, not any other Guardians." Ghost said. "Heroes never die, they go missing in action. They are not only born, but willed into existence."
Suddenly, there was a loud boom, and three beasts with 3 hands each, carrying guns in 2 of their hands.
"This is fallen territory! Run!" Ghost said.
Ethan ran until he got inside a building.
"I need to get you to the city, fast! Quick, pick up that Battle Rifle!"
Ethan did as told and picked up the BR. He felt like he had held it before, but he wasn't confident he had.
"I hope you know how to use that thing!" Ghost said.
The beasts were back again. They shot at Ghost and Ethan and they took cover. Every occasion Ethan would turn around and fire at the beasts.
One was down, boom, two were down.
Ethan found a knife on the ground and ran toward the last one and slit its throat.
"Nice job, Guardian. We need to get off this fallen territory."
Ghost disappeared.
"Don't worry, I'm in your helmet. Your war helmet transmits everything I say and sends it to your brain. Let's get you to the city. There are more of you to be resurrected."
