Now for those who have seen my history of ali-humans and troll kingdom books, Melodia is the queen of the aquatic ali-humans and I plan on including her in my version of "Trolls band together" along with her parents and siblings >:3
Now here's a drawing I made showing the differences between the females and the males

The males have:
-Short, rugged hair -More fins on the tail -Lighter wing-tips -Triangular tail-fin -And are around the same size as the females
Meanwhile the females have:
-Long, elegant hair -Less fins on the tail -Rounded/Heart shaped tail-fin -Larger wings than the males -Darker wing-tips

The context behind the drawing is that branch is turned into an aquatic ali-human by melodia while poppy is turned into an egyptian ali-human by Mansa (More on her later-) but then somewhere in the climax velvet tosses poppy into the water and she can't swim so branch is swimming up to the surface so he could get her to shore
