The roaring applause filled the auditorium, Marie stood on stage basking in it

They had just finished yet another performance of elegant and old fashioned ballet moves

They were covered in sweat, despite being in just a tutu and tights the spotlight's spared no one from its heat

Marie didn't mind being in the spotlight, metaphorically and literally. The applause just meant that all their hard work payed off

It was hard to see in the crowd but after preforming for so long Marie's eyes had gotten used to the constant squinting they had to do to make out their person of interest

It wasn't their mom or dad, believe them they checked before the show even started. It was their partner, Saffron

Marie immediately caught their bright orange hair, sitting in the front row. Holding a large sign that had "Go Marie!" written in large writing

Marie smiled, as long as Saffron was in the crowd constantly preforming was worth it. After all, Saffron was great at providing Marie with pre show snacks and drinks. Even giving Marie a good luck flower on their first judged recital

Luckily this was just a preforming recital so Marie felt right at home, especially with two unwanted guests no where to be seen in the crowd

Marie waited for the applause to slowly soften before taking a bow and thanking everyone for attending

Once all the lights were turned on Marie made their way to the locker room, they couldn't wait to change and grab a bite with their beloved partner

Along the way Marie was complemented by the teacher and fellow students. Marie thanked and returned everyone's praise

Once in the locker room Marie quickly made their way to their personal changing room. After closing the door they sat on the chair in front of the dimly lit vanity

Although Marie didn't mind the roaring applause after every performance they also were fond of quietness. They found it to be oddly peaceful.

Marie took a deep breath, they were still a little winded from earlier. This show they just happened to implement a new move to the routine, one that was preformed by Marie's grandmother at her first high school recital

Although Marie wasn't fond of their family, they'll admit learning family moves was fun

"I'll have to tell grandma about tonight, I'm sure she would love to hear about this" Marie said to themselves

"Yes, I'm sure she would love to hear about your excellent performance tonight" a voice answered back

Marie froze, who was this person entering Marie's own private changing room.

Marie never locked their door before because everyone did the smart thing and knocked before entering, Saffron would even send a text saying their outside the door

Marie could see in the mirror that it wasn't just one person, it was two. A man and a woman

Marie didn't know what to do, they never have been in a situation like this before

Still confused and a little bit scared, Marie grabbed their hairbrush for defense. It wasn't much but it's what they had to work with

Marie turned around ready to bonk the intruders but was completely stunned at who it was
