FURY
(HAS NOT BEEN REWRITTEN)Stiles, Carter, Scott, and Stilinski all crowded around Stiles' desk, a yearbook lying open on it, faces completely crossed out and Matt's face was circled several times with a red sharpie.
Carter still couldn't believe that Matt was the one controlling Jackson. Stiles had been right - Matt was doing everything he could to throw suspicion off himself. And it worked.
"So this kid's the real killer?" Stilinski asked skeptically, Stiles seated in his desk chair whilst the three of them surrounded him.
"Yeah," Stiles replied, the three teens watched as Stilinski intently stared down at the yearbook.
"No."
"Yes."
"No," Stilinski insisted, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Dad, come on." Stiles began, scrambling to his feet and stood in front of his father. "Everybody knows that the police look for ways to connect victims in a murder, okay? So all you have to do is, like, look through their transcripts and figure out which class they all had in common."
"Yeah, except for the fact that the rave promoter, Kara, wasn't in Harris' class," Stilinski argued.
"All right, okay, you're right, sorry." Stiles sighed, shaking his head back and forth. "Then I guess they dropped the charges against him?"
"No, you know what? They're not dropping the charges. But that doesn't prove anything," Stiles' jaw fell open at his father's words. "Scott, Carter, do you two believe this?"
Stiles made a sound of annoyance, rolling his eyes. Carter remained silent, letting Scott take the reins on giving the answer. And besides, she didn't know how to word that statement correctly without saying: "Hey, you know - Matt, that really creepy kid? Well, he has this strange control over this homicidal-lizard-type-thing, and yeah, that's who's been slicing everyone to pieces!"
"It's really hard to explain how we know this, but you just gotta trust us. We know it's Matt," Scott explained, his eyes locked on Stilinski.
"Yeah, he took Harris' car, okay?" Stiles added. "Look, he knew that if a cop found tire tracks at one of the murders, and that if enough of the victims were in Harris' class, that they'd arrest him."
"All right, fine," Stilinski muttered, looking like he was trying to process his son's crazy theory. "I'll allow the remote possibility, but give me a motive. I mean, why would this kid want most of the 2006 swim team and its coach dead?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Stiles exclaimed, holding his arms out to his head for effect. Carter and Scott looked at each other, both of them shaking their heads softly at Stiles. "Our swim team sucks! They haven't won in, like, six years." Stiles grimaced at his own statement. "Okay, we don't have a motive yet. I mean, come on, does Harris?"
"What do you want me to do?"
Stiles let out quick breath, surprised that he had actually gotten his father to agree with their theory. Stiles glanced over his shoulder, seeing Carter and Scott standing behind him with wide eyes. "We need to look at the evidence," Carter stated.
