(Anna's POV)
I was so nervous to start my new job today. Being around hot and sweaty men all day was going to be a challenge. Today was my first day as an assistant coach for the Tennessee Titans. What if they don't respect me because I am a woman? I had all these questions and doubts in my head. I tried to block them out and just continue to get ready but that presented a challenge for me.
This was the first day of the rest of my life. I can't mess this up! I took a deep breath and just tried to get lost in listening to music. I've loved music ever since I was little. I would dance and sing all over the house. Although I wasn't very good at it, I still loved to do it.
My real passion has always been sports. I was probably 5 when I watched my first football game and realized that I really loved it. Growing up, football was always one of my favorite sports. If not my very favorite. I guess as I got older I just got more into it and into learning the rules.
I think that pretty much brings us to where we are now, me getting ready for my first day as an assistant coach. My mind was running in a million different directions. Just continue to get ready and you will do fine Anna. I believe in you. Yes, I talk to myself. Honestly, who doesn't?
As I got into my car, I double checked I had everything I needed. Which only included my phone, purse and a notebook. Once I knew I had everything, I started my long journey to the stadium. (Only about 5 minutes.)
When I got there, I parked my car in the employee parking lot. I was told to meet Coach Vrabel in his office but I had no idea where that was. I started walking, hoping I would find my way and be in the right place eventually.
"Hey you lost?" I heard a voice say behind me. I turned around to meet the voice "I'm Derrick Henry... and you are?"
"Oh Anna Quinn. The new assistant coach" I smiled "And yeah I was told to meet in Coach Vrabels office but I have no idea where that is."
"Well it's nice to meet you Anna, or should I say Coach?"
"Anna's fine" He smiled at me and nodded his head
"Here I can take you to Coach's office. It's just right around the corner here" he pointed and we started walking. On the way he started making small talk with me. "So what do you do as an assistant coach?"
"Pretty much anything Coach Vrabel needs me to do"
"Anything?" Derrick wiggles his eyebrows and I knew what he was suggesting
"Derrick!!! Get your mind out of the gutter" I laughed and shook my head jokingly "I just hope everyone likes me and accepts me"
"I think you are going to get along with everyone just fine. And if someone gives you trouble... let me know. I'll deal with them" He smiled at me
"Thanks Derrick, that means a lot to me"
"Ofc Coach Anna! Anyways here's our stop. Vrabels Office. Good luck" He winked at me and I decided to ignore it.
"Thank you for taking me." I said and he gave me a fist bump before walking away.
Well that went well. First meeting with a player already done. Now I have to meet the head coach. Deep breaths Anna. Your gonna do great. Here goes nothing.... Knock knock
