If you were to ask Izuku Midoriya who was the closest person in his life he would say his mother. His mom was always the one consistent thing in his life. When the dorms started he would call her every night after dinner and went on home visits every weekend. He told his mom everything, the only secret he ever kept from her was the secret of how he got his quirk.
Sunday evening Midoriya came home from his visit with his mom chatting up a storm to his friends about his visit, the smile of his face stretching ear to ear. His friends sat there enjoying the excitement of their resident cinnamon roll telling them about the new All Might Merch she had surprised him with. The love between the mother and son was clearly strong.

Classes on Monday were going well, Izuku was excited for their heroics class after lunch. They were facing off against class 1-B again in a massive capture the flag game. Izuku brought a new notebook to school with him today to analyze the other classes' quirks some more.
Present Mic had just written an English sentence on the board. "Okay listeners, who would like to come up and translate this sentence!" Mic turned around to look at the class and pick someone to come up when a knock was heard on the door. "Come in!" The hero yelled at the door.
The door opened and Mr. Aizawa walked in. "Sorry for the interruption Mic, but I was wondering if I could borrow Midoriya?"
"Alright by me!" Present Mic turned toward Midoriya. "Take your stuff with you listener, class is almost over."
Midoriya packed his bag and headed out with Aizawa. The two walked down the hallway and into the teachers lounge. The lounge was mainly empty with only Snipe being in there at the time. When he saw the two of them walk in he got up and left. Mr Aizawa pointed to the couch, "Have a seat, kid." As he walked over to the arm chair and sat down. Midoriya followed his lead and sat down on the couch.
"Um, Mr. Aizawa, am I in trouble?" Midoriya started fiddling with the fingers on his scarred hand, avoiding eye contact with his teacher.
"No Midoriya you're not in trouble, but I have something I need to inform you of, but before I do, I want you to know that everything is going to be okay and all of your teachers and I are here to support you through this time." The look on his teacher's face scared Midoriya, in that it was a scary look but it was the look of someone who had to tell you something they really didn't want to.
"Mr Aizawa, what's wrong?"
"During a villain attack this morning, 3 buildings were taken down during a hero's efforts to capture the villain, one of those buildings was the doctor's office your mother works for." Midoriya stared at his teacher in shock, he knew what his teacher was going to say next but he didn't want to believe it. "I'm sorry Midoriya but your mother didn't survive the attack."
It took Midoriya a few moments to absorb what his teacher had just told him. Then the flood gates opened, Midoriya started crying, he was now officially alone in the world. He didn't know what was going to happen now, he wished he could go back to yesterday when it was just him and her.
Mr. Aizawa sat beside his student on the couch and pulled him into a hug. His student cried his heart out into his shoulder. "I'm so sorry Midoriya, everything will be okay I promise." He sat there and held his student until his student cried himself to sleep.

30 minutes before the devastating news
Aizawa was pulled into a meeting with the principal of UA Nezu. How the man was dated by the rat, who knows what scheme he had up his sleeve today. "Tea Shota?"
"You know I won't drink that." Aizawa said flatly.
"We'll it never hurts to ask! You're probably wondering why I called you in here today, as I know you don't like your no time being interrupted."
" Get to the point, Nezu, so I can go back to my nap."
"As you know, when UA put the dorm systems into place all homeroom teachers were given temporary guardianship in case of emergencies."
"I am fully aware, didn't something happen to one of my students."
"All of you students are safe in their class, however I just received some devastating news, I'm sorry Shota but I think you'll be missing out on your nap today. Midoriya's only loving family member Inko Midoriya was killed in a villain attack this morning."
"Shit!"
"As for now Midoriya is a word of UA, as his homeroom teacher it is your responsibility to provide for this child. Sadly that means breaking the news to him."

There was a knock on the door to the teacher's lounge and Snipe popped his head in. "Is it safe to come back in now?"
Mr. Aizawa looked at the kid asleep on his chest and let out a sigh. "Yeah the kid's out cold."
"Didn't take the news well?" Snipe sat down on the chair Aizawa was previously sitting in.
"No, he cried himself to sleep. Definitely shouldn't leave him alone tonight. Did Nezu cover my classes for the rest of the day?"
"Yeah he did, I think Vlad also canceled the joint training today, shortened day for the 2 classes."
"Good, lunch is about to start so I think I should get the kid to the teachers' dorms before it gets crowded."
"Good luck with the kid Aizawa."
"Thanks"

Midoriya woke up confused, he didn't recognize where he was. He also woke up still feeling drained. He sat up and looked around. He was in someone's living room, napping on their couch.
"Good to see you awake kid." Mr. Aizawa came walking out of what he assumed was the kitchen with a cup of coffee in his hand.
"Where am I?"
"You're in my apartment in the teacher's dorms, you shouldn't be alone right now but I also thought you would like some space from your classmates." Mr. Aizawa sat down on the couch next to Midoriya. "How are you feeling kid?"
"I don't know. Everything is so confusing."
"That's completely normal, you're welcome to stay here as long as you need."
"Mr. Aizawa?" Midoriya's voice came off as small and scared.
"Yes kid?"
"What's going to happen to me? Where am I going to go? I have no family. Am I going to be able to keep attending UA? I don't want to leave." Work came out fast and Mr. Aizawa nearly was able to make out what he said.
"Kid, you don't need to worry. You will be able to stay here at UA. When the dorms were put in place parents were given a form that in case anything where to happen UA would assume guardianship over the student, so as of now you are a ward of UA." Midoriya was crying again.
Mr. Aizawa pulled him into a hug. "Kid when I told you earlier you are welcome to stay here as long as you need. I really do mean that. I want you to feel as if this is your home now, you are always welcome here, even after your years at UA are over."
"I would like that." Midoriya had pulled away and started wiping tears from his eye. "Thank you Mr. Aizawa."

The next few months were hard for Midoriya although everyone around him was really supportive, they were also overbearing. He found that he just wanted to spend a lot more time to himself, but when he stayed in his dorm room people were always checking on him. He found himself at Mr. Aizawa place most of the time. His teacher never asked why he was there, just let him have his peace or just sat there quietly with him.
Overtime Midoriya was able to go back to his regular routine. But when he had a bad day or just needed the comfort of an adult he alway found his way back to Aizawa's apartment. So there was no question when it came to the dorms closing for the holidays where Midoriya was going to stay. So Midoriya packed up his bags and headed off to his new home.
