"Dauntless!"
I did it, I can't believe I actually did it.
I open my eyes and watch as my blood sizzles on the hot coals, turning it slightly dark red. Risking look at my father, and see him mouth the three words that break my heart.
'I love you.'
I slowly make my way towards the dauntless. I don't pay attention to the rest of the ceremony, the same words running through my head over and over again.
*Flashback*

"You have to leave. Now." Tori says, trying to rush me out the door.
"What were the test results." I ask.
"They were inconclusive."
What the hell that suppose to mean? They can't be inconclusive.
"What was the overall result?" i ask firmly.
"Amity," Tori says pausing "and Dauntless, and Euriadite."
"That's impossible."
"No it's not. You are what they call a divergent. Do not tell anyone, not even your family, or they will find you and they will kill you."
My blood runs cold, her words haunting my thoughts.
'They will find you.'
'They will kill you.'
*End Flashback*
I follow the other initiates as we all run to the bottom of some tracks. They all start to climb up and I am happy that I spent most of my time climbing trees. I finally reach the top and start to run as the train approaches fast.Grabbing the handle and pulling myself on, I look back and see a girl in Abnegation cloths still running. The girl next to me reaches out as she finally get a grip on the handle. I reach out to help and we both pull her up.
"Thanks. I'm Beatrice." She says breathing heavily.
"Christina." The other girl, Christina, says.
They both look at me expectantly, reaching hands out.
"I'm Teauna." I say shaking their hands.
"Their jumping off!" Someone yells.
The three of us get up and look out the door. Sure enough everybody is jumping off of the train. I look to Beatrice and Christina and nod at them to get ready. We jump off together and I do a little roll my brother taught me to take away some of the impact of landing. I help up Christina and Beatrice and head over to the group.
"My name is Eric, I am one of the Dauntless leaders. The only way off this roof is to jump, any volunteers?" Eric asks.
Everyone is quiet not knowing if they want to jump. As I start to put my hand up Beatrice beats me to the punch.
"I will." She says stepping forward and taking her jacket off.
"Take it off!" A boy next to me yells.
"Put it back on." He mumbles under his breath.
I elbow him in the ribs and watch Beatrice get up on the ledge.
"Any day now stiff." Eric says coldly.
As I look back up, Beatrice goes down and I hold in a gasp. Eric yells next and everyone forms a line. I somehow end up in front and resist the urge to hit the guy who shoved me in front. I get up on the ledge and see a giant hole in the ground. Turning around and facing the group, I remember my brother telling me it is easier not to look.
"It's now or never, do it or become faction less. No turning back." Eric says, but not as coldly as he did to Beatrice.
"Who said I was turning back?" I say looking straight ahead of me and doing a backflip off the ledge, hearing some people scream.
I land on a net and bounce a couple of times before sliding off.
*Time skip to lights out*
I lay at the far end of the room next to Tris, looking down at the bracelet my brother made me and knowing that I am one step closer to doing what I came here to do. Sleep overcomes me as I finally close my eyes.

"What the hell!" Will yells falling off the bed.
The bell signaling that it is time to get up goes off and half of the initiates groan in protest. We slowly make our way to the training room, Peter and I being the only ones truly awake. Four has us gather around a square mat in the center of the room.
"First up, Teauna and Drew!" Four calls out.
I make my way up to the mat and watch Drew like a hawk. We stand there and watch each other, waiting to see who will make the first move.
"Any day now initiates!" He yells.
As I look at him Drew punches me in the face and I fall to the mat. He leans down and punches me again and everything goes bleary for a minute. As he raises his fist I swing my elbow up and over and get him in the side. I take my chance and shove him off of me. Getting to my feet, I step back and take a moment to breath. Drew stands up and charges at me, but I move at the last minute, grab his shirt and throw him to the side. I try not to use the moves my brother showed me, I only want to use them if I have to. Drew stands up and I know that the only way that this match is going to end is when one of us can't get up. Running at him I jump and round-house kick him and he falls to the mat. He doesn't get up and he doesn't open his eyes. Four declares me winner and I walk away and start running laps.
"Where did you learn to fight like that?" Will asks, jogging to keep up with my pace.
"I've had a lot of practice." I say dropping the subject.
T

he bell rings and I make my way to the cafeteria. Tris, Will, Chris, and Al sit by me and they start to talk about their old factions. Eventually Four tells them to shut up and leaves after Tris tells him that he is easy to talk to or some crap like that. Conversation flows easily until Peter and his merry band of sociopaths walk in.
"Oh look, it's the Stiff and her flock of chickens." Peter says as they stop in front of us.
Drew and Marlene take food off of our trays and Peter flips Tris' onto her.
"You know what Stiff?" Peter asks "I think you look better this way, but a real dauntless would fight back."
Tris doesn't say anything, just sits quietly waiting for them to leave. Marlene flips Al's and Will's trays onto them and starts to laugh. As Drew is about to flip mine and Chris' trays I grab my cup, launch it at his head and flip the tray onto him.
"Hey Peter!" I call standing up, by now the whole cafeteria is quiet.
"If you were a real dauntless, you wouldn't need to mess with people to prove your strength. You would have the highest marks, not the second."
"At least I'm stronger than you, a weak wittle rose." He says.
"Every rose has its thorns, and lets face it. If you were a real man, you would know when to shut up and walk away before you get hurt. I mean I'm more of a man now than you'll ever be. My balls are so big they can't fit in my pants, they had to be put on my chest. What does that say about you?" I say smirking.
Without warning Peter launches himself over the table and lands on top of me. He punches me in the face and I put my arm in front of me to block him. A strong punch to my stomach leave me gasping for air. I finally push him off and stand up; I have blood running down my chin but I ignore it. I turn around to walk away, but I hear him coming at me. As soon as he is right behind me I turn around and punch him in the nose. He stumbles backwards and as he goes to throw a punch he is pulled back by Max.
"What is the meaning of this initiates?" He asks sounding a little ticked off.
I look around and see all of the leaders standing around us. Wiping the rest of the blood off of my face, I watch as Max drags Peter out of the Mess Hall. Four grabs me and drags me down the hall. He pushes me into a room and shuts the door.
"Take a seat Teauna." Max says from behind his desk.
I sit down after a bit of hesitation and wait for him to speak, knowing that nothing good can come out of this.
"Would you like to explain to me why you and Peter were fighting in the middle of the Mess Hall?" He asks.
"I was trying to get him to leave us alone and let us eat our lunch in peace. He lunged and punched me in the face, so I fought back." I say nonchalantly.
"Well, fair is fair, even if you were acting in self defence. You are a strong fighter, but I can't let you keep getting into fights. Your punishment will be three hours of training a day with Eric." He says handing me a piece of paper.
I walk out and head to the dorms to get ready for my extra training. Changing into a black sports bra and tights.

From what I hear about Eric, I am in for a load of hurt. I head back to the training room and start on the punching bag.
"We are only training for an hour and a half hours today, you can make up the rest tomorrow." Eric says from behind me.
I turn around to face him and immediately realize that he is no man to mess with. He starts me on the punching bag and focuses on finding my strengths. As we finally finish, my whole body feels like it was trampled by a horse. I make my way to the club, deciding on something to help me relax.
"A shot of whisky please." I say as I sit down.
"Do you think that's a good idea?" The bartender asks.
"I guess we'll find out."
I down my shot then have two more before heading to the dorms. Sleep comes easy, but I know that I will have to work harder than this if I am going to pick up where my brother left off.
