CHAPTER 6

Roy  entered his bedroom and sat on the bed. He unlocked his phone and began to watch reels on Instagram. As the next video was about to play, Raina came out of the shower with her hair still glistening. The night gown was a perfect fit that brought out all her curves. He smiled at her appearance. She looked cute. "Do you like it?", he asked her, feeling nervous. She smiled greatly. "It's awesome, Roy. I love it!', she exclaimed, with an expression that made him hard. He had to leave the room before he would end up doing something he would regret. He abruptly stood up from the bed, not daring to look at her, and started walking out of the room.

Raina was bothered by his reaction. "Where are you going?", she asked him. He heaved a sigh. "I'm going to the living room." "You need to rest.", he told her, as he continued walking towards the door. Raina felt short of breath. So, Roy wasn't going to stay with her? What if Roland came over to get her? What if Roland was looking for her? What if he would go after her daughters? She panicked endlessly. Roy heard her whimper and stopped in his tracks. He turned to face her. She was holding her chest weakly. Was she upset or scared? "What's wrong, Raina?", he inquired, coming closer to her. She looked down. "It's just...what if Roland finds me? What if he comes here to finish the job? What if he kills us both? What if— ", she started but Roy stopped her by placing a finger on her lips.

He put his finger down and caressed her face with his palm. "Nothing's going to happen, Raina. I'll make sure of it." He told her, giving her a reassuring smile. "I-Is it okay if you stay with me just for tonight?" "Please?", she asked him, looking deep into his soul. Roy was flattered. He always had a weak spot when it came to Raina. He nodded. "Sure!", he said. They both hopped in to bed and laid down in an awkward silence, backing each other. The smell of Raina's shampoo flew into Roy's nose. It drove him crazy and put him under a temporary spell. Without thinking twice, he pulled her towards him and took in a deep breath. She smelt exotic. Raina was shocked at his gesture. Just then, her shock turned into fear.

"R-Roy? W-What are you doing?", she asked him, feeling a little scared. Roy didn't answer. He was too lost in his own desire. "You drive me crazy, Raina!" he told her, as he kissed her neck. These words sent chills down her spine. She managed to slide out of his grip, which brought him back to reality. He sat up suddenly, after realizing what he had just done. "Oh, no! I'm so sorry, Raina. I don't know what came over me. I'm ashamed of my actions." He pleaded with her, as he was about to get up from the bed. Raina caught his arm. "It's alright. It was a mistake, wasn't it? It's all good.", she said. Roy hugged her tightly. Roy laid back down and Raina rested her head on his chest. In the heat of the moment, Roy decided to bring up the topic that had bothered him for a while.

He stroked her hair as he spoke to her. "The last time we spent the night here, you were crying in your sleep. You feared that man. Was he scary enough to torment you in your sleep?", he asked her, stroking her hair very gently. Raina nodded. "Yes, he was. He did so many horrible things to me," she said to him, looking at his face. "Things like what? You never told me about these things in detail, you know.", he said to her. Raina hesitated, then began to talk again.

"He controlled me like a puppet. I was only allowed to talk when he asked me to, think what he wanted me to think and do just as I was instructed without objections. He...He would rape me repeatedly and beat me up when he was frustrated or angry. Sometimes, he just beat me up because he felt like. When I was pregnant for Ari, he still went on with his abuse and sexual assault. When she was born, he would beat Patricia mercilessly if she tried defending or helping me. That was the reason I ran away from him. I couldn't let my daughters suffer like that.", she told him, looking down at the floor. Roy bit his lips in dismay and anger. This guy really ruined Raina's life.

She continued talking after a short time. "I would shiver at the sight of him. Though he was good-looking, he was a monster to me. I started using birth control pills these past few days because I didn't want another baby from him. He told me I was his property, and he could do whatever he pleased with me. I hated him so much. Sometimes, he would rape me till I passed out. All those years back, he would drug my food, just to keep me in bed for some days. I almost ran crazy.", she said to him. She couldn't continue talking as tears clouded her vision. Roy wiped her tears away. "Raina, it's alright! You had a bad past, but I assure you that there's a good future ahead of you with many rewards and opportunities to help you move on in life." He told her, turning to face her. "That man made your life a living hell. It doesn't mean you can't ever be happy again. I made you a promise, didn't I? I said I would try as much as possible to get rid of your bad memories. I'll keep to it as long as you're alive, Raina.", he said to her, kissing her forehead.
