Ghost’s day started like any other, the usual laps around the track, a few spars with the rookies, along with some time to himself to regain his thoughts. His routine ran strong until a new “rookie” showed up. The captain, John Price had whistled for Ghost’s attention, quickly turning to look at his superior, he stepped toward the captain and the newcomer.
“Yes sir?”
He spoke with a soft, but still stern tone, dark hazel eyes seeming to glare downward at the new guy, who had finally decided now was the time to speak.
“The names John Mactavish sir, Sergeant John Mactavish”
Ghost’s eyes seemed to widen at the male's words, almost shocked that the other was such a high ranking.
“Simon Riley..”
Ghost’s look became less of a glare and more of a wince as he said his name, he wasn’t used to introducing himself to others, and if he was ever introduced, it was by his codename…”Ghost.”
“Well I hope we can stay on good terms Simon..”
John almost sounded nervous, and the glare from Ghost didn’t help.
“I hope so too, just don’t fuck up and we’re good..”
WIth those final words spoken from the lieutenant, Ghost turned to leave, however he was stopped in his tracks by Price’s words.
“The sergeant will be starting with you as of right now Ghost, try to play nice, and most of all..go easy on the lad..”
Ghost turned back, a scoff of a chuckle escaping him.
“No promises sir-”
At that moment, John’s heart fluttered a bit, was he nervous? Maybe..or did the lieutenant's words scream something else in his head? Regardless John followed the masked male, muttering things under his breath, unaware the male could even hear him.
“Something on your mind sergeant?”
Ghost asked, sounding almost amused.
“N-no sir..just sorta thinkin’ out loud”
John kept his gaze on the floor.
“Well your thoughts about what it would be like to be pinned down by me are quite interesting..”
He chuckled a bit this time.
“I-in a spar is what I mean sir..nothing weird if that’s what you were thinkin..”
John stammered, struggling to find the right words to say without sounding like a total dunce.
“Right..a spar, if you’re into me..just say it, Price isn’t close enough to hear ya anyway..and to be honest, you’re the first lad in here to not get on my nerves within the first five minutes of meeting you..”
John seemed to smile, the first since meeting the lieutenant, he seemed to relax ever so slightly.
“Glad to hear that sir”
He spoke more firmly, straightening his poster a bit more, but not trying to seem dominant over his now superior.
“And what you said before you mentioned tolerating me..you said that as if you liked me the same way I may like you..”
Ghost scoffed.
“Perhaps I do..I mean you are quite attractive to say the least, plus you’re a sergeant..sort of a shock to me to be completely honest with you, plus I have to get used to being called sir, instead of calling other men sir..well..except for the captain of course, though I joke and call him an old man, given he is older than all of us, probably combined to!”
