The next morning, you awoke to the smell of bacon and eggs wafting up the stairs. You climbed out of bed, and as you headed down the stairs, the sound of humming greeted you.
Jungkook was standing at the stove, flipping bacon and scrambling eggs. He looked up when he heard your footsteps and grinned. "Good morning, sunshine! I hope you're hungry, because I made us a big breakfast."
"That looks delicious," you said, sitting down at the table.
"Thanks."
As he placed the food on the table, you couldn't help but admire how good he looked in the morning light, his hair tousled and his eyes bright.
You took a bite of the bacon and eggs and let out a satisfied moan. "Kookie, these are amazing!"
Jungkook laughed. "Glad you like them. It's a recipe my mom taught me."
You continued eating, savoring every bite. When you were finished, you stood up from the table and began clearing the dishes. "Thanks for cooking breakfast. It was delicious."
"My pleasure," he replied, a soft smile on his face.
After cleaning up, the two of you headed out to the backyard, where you had set up a small volleyball net. You grabbed a ball and began tossing it back and forth. As you played, you couldn't help but notice the way his muscles flexed with every movement, and you wondered if he could tell how badly you wanted him.
"Kookie, you're a pretty good player," you commented, lobbing the ball over the net.
"Thanks," he replied, hitting it back to you.
"You're not so bad yourself."
As the sun began to set, you called it a game, both of you sweaty and exhausted.
"That was fun. We should do it again sometime," you said, breathing heavily.
"Definitely," he replied, grinning.
The rest of the weekend passed in a blur of laughter and smiles, and by the time Jungkook had to leave, you were sad to see him go.
"Thank you for coming over. I had a lot of fun," you said, giving him a hug.
"Me too. We'll have to do it again sometime."
As you watched him walk away, you couldn't help but wish that things could be different, that he could be yours. But you knew that would never happen, so you pushed the thought from your mind and went back inside, determined to put your feelings for him behind you once and for all.
It was only after you were in bed that night that the tears began to fall. You were tired of hiding your feelings for him, but you knew that he would never see you as anything more than a friend. You wiped the tears from your eyes and forced yourself to stop crying, knowing that it would do no good.
"Why am I even wasting my time on him?" you asked yourself. "He'll never see me as anything more than a friend."
Your heart ached, but you knew that it was time to move on.
You closed your eyes and let the darkness wash over you, pushing all thoughts of him from your mind.
As the weeks went by, you found yourself spending less and less time with Jungkook. You still cared about him, but it hurt too much to be around him, knowing that he would never return your feelings.
Finally, one day, he called you out of the blue and asked if you wanted to hang out.
"I'm sorry, I can't," you said, your heart aching. "I have plans with my boyfriend."
It was a lie, but it was the only way you could think of to keep him at bay.
"Oh," he replied, sounding disappointed. "Well, I guess I'll see you around then."
"Yeah, see you," you said, hanging up the phone.
The truth was, there was no boyfriend. You had simply said it to keep him from asking questions, and to make him understand that you were no longer interested in being friends. It hurt, but you knew it was for the best.
You sighed, wiping away the tears that had begun to fall. It was time to move on, and the best way to do that was to avoid seeing him altogether.
You knew it would be difficult, but you were determined to put him behind you once and for all.
