After driving for about 7 hours, we finally entered Hurricane, Utah.  Damn this town was small.  "Well, this'll be a nice fresh start," My mother said.  She was far too happy to move to a sleepy town in the middle of nowhere.  After about 10 minutes we pulled up to a small gray house with a oak door.  I got out of the car and opened the door to our house...

               Y/ns pov

               2 years later

I ran into the kitchen, grabbed a (favorite flavor) muffin.  "Bye mom!" I yelled, running out the door.  No way was I being late on the first day.  I only lived about 5 blocks from school so if I ran I could make it in time.

I made it to my seat just in time, right as the bell rang.  I gasped for air and put my books down.  My tablemate and only friend, Jasper, laughed at me for being so close to being late.  "Hah, of course, only Y/n could manage to be so close to the bell,"  he whispered. "Shut up," I whispered back.  I zoned out for the rest of homeroom, what can I say?  It's boring.

The bell rang and I ran to my next class, writing, the teacher there is so strict, if you were late by a second, detention.  I sat down in my seat and listened to all the conversations around me, its something to do,  plus i hear all ki.ds of interesting things, class before the bell rings is quite boring.  One of them actually seemed interesting.  "Cmon, everyone else shared who they're crushing on.  Why won't you?"

"I don't have a crush," One of the boys said through gritted teeth.  I think his names Michael.  "Guys I bet it's Heather.  He's always staring at her,"  "No way, it's Ashley.  She's a cheerleader.  Who doesn't love a sexy cheerleader?"

"I don't like anyone," Michael said with frustration.  "Cmon tell us,"  His friends complained obviously frustrated.  Without thinking, I stood up put my hands on their table and glared at them.  "Leave him alone," I said, jeez it's obvious he don't wanna tell you, idiots.  "Oh, did you hear something Thomas?" Andrew taunted.  "No, did you?"  Thomas taunted back.  "I said, leave him alone, before I beat both of your asses back to the hellhole you came from,"  they looked at me in astonishment.  Whoops I didn't mean to say that...

Thomas stared for a second before sending a hard punch toward my jaw.  I didn't avoid the punch, I'm sorry I didn't realize what was happening before it was too late.  Damn, that hurt.  The teacher walked in and saw Thomas punch so I mean there's a plus.  He got detention, hah!  I sat down holding my jaw and focused on my school work.

Why did I help him?  Gah, that was dumb.  I put myself on the rader of the 4 biggest bullies to help one of them out, jeez.  The bell rang and I gathered my stuff.  I started to walk to my next class, trying to avoid the bullies.  I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned around and saw Michael, the boy I had helped earlier.

"Can I walk you to your next class?  As a th, thank you of course, of course... sorry about Thomas."  He looked flustered.

"I'm perfectly capable of walking to my next class by myself,"  I responded continuing on my way.  "Please?"  Jeez, why did he wanna walk to my next class so badly?  "Fine..."

We walked to the band room and the whole way there he kept glancing over at me.  I turned around, looked him in the eye and said bye.  I was ready to focus on playing music in band.

                 Michael's pov

Not gonna lie, I do have a crush.  But no way in hell was I telling Andrew and Thomas.  Jeremy already knows who it is.  It's Y/n, OK yeah yeah, haha.  The most popular bully who almost killed his brother has a crush on quiet, shy bookish little Y/n.

After walking her to band, I hid in one of the secret empty classrooms that I made into a hideout.  I had to find out how to ask her out.  But I knew I was gonna f-ck it up somehow.  It was pretty damn awesome the way she stood up for me.  As I waited for the final bell of the day to ring, I got more and more nervous.

When the bell rang, I ran out looking for her.  I saw her and grabbed her wrist.  "Hey, y/n. Would you consider go-"  "Huh?" She yelled over all the noise.  Ahh, screw it.  "Would you like to be my friend?"  She looked at me funny then nodded.  "See ya tommarow," she yelled and walked away.
