when dawon first moved from yg to big hit, the first person she met was yeonjun but his aura intimidated her; they would officially meet when she was introduced to the other trainees. yeonjun saw her as a threat after she started placing first during monthly evaluations and earned lots of praise from their teachers, and that unknowingly sparked a rivalry between the pair. their relationship started mending when they were paired during one of their dance lessons where they were tasked to make choreography to a song of their choosing – both of them earned a lot of praise and were told that they made a great duo, which surprised them. since then, yeonjun and dawon have been good friends. when dawon informed him that she would be participating in produce 48, he cheered her on and voted for her every single time – he would even sometimes text her and comment how proud he was of her performances, which boosted her confidence throughout the show. as they trained together, yeonjun slowly grew more and more protective of dawon – ensuring she was bringing her jacket whenever she left the dorms, wearing an extra hair-tie for her and treating her like his younger sister; dawon was glad to have yeonjun in her life and always calls him the older brother she never had.
