"Can I preen your wings?" Sabre asked abruptly, disrupting the peaceful silence they had going on. Guardian raised a brow and turned to look at him, slightly irritated at the disruption.
"What?"
"Your wings. They're messy and it's bothering me so much, dude." Sabre groaned, his hands twitching as if physically trying to stop himself from wrestling the taller – and probably stronger – figure down and preening his wings to perfection.
Guardian looked to his wings, the slight itch in them growing a little more persistent now that attention was brought to them. A good amount of feathers did look out of place, and he could spot some that needed to be taken out.
"Well, you're not wrong.." Guardian hummed thoughtfully, running a hand along one of his wings.
"I'll let you do mine if you let me do yours," Sabre offered, practically begging at this point. He leaned closer, a pout tugging at his lips as he stared at the disorganized feathers. Guardian gave him a slightly incredulous look, his eyes looking behind Sabre then back to his face.
"I'm noticing a distinct lack of said wings.."
Sabre huffed, leaning back and standing up. He unzipped his hoodie, letting the top half fall and tying the sleeves around his waist. He shifted himself to stand a little more sideways, looking back behind him. Two slits in the sleeveless turtleneck stood out to The Guardian, who curiously leaned just the slightest bit closer.
Two wings blossomed from his back, pristine white and slightly messy. Actually, they were decently messy. A lot of feathers out of place and very uncomfortable looking. The uncomfortable grimace and shake of his wings proved Guardian right and he laughed quietly.
"Alright, come on. You look so uncomfortable," Guardian smiled, offering a hand for Sabre to grab and lower himself with. Sabre took it gratefully, sitting just slightly off to the side in front of the cloaked figure for better access. They raised a wing in unison, giving one last confirming look to each other before reaching out. They allowed themselves to feel the feathers before getting to work.
"Your wings are so silky, dude. What kind of magic are you using?" Sabre jested, skillfully moving a few feathers and picking two loose ones out.
Guardian gave him a small side eye, picking out a few more feathers, "Yours are so soft. What kind of magic are you using?"
Sabre looked to him with pursed lips, humming before turning back to the task at hand. Guardian took that as a 'tuche' and let himself revel in his small victory over the normally challenging, hard-headed player. But now that he looked a little closer, he could see the lack of tension the shorter usually held. He twitched less often, his shoulders dropped a little more, and he looked overall more relaxed.
He supposes it was a natural thing to feel relaxed while being preened. He was when he let some spirits preen him, back when he still had access to the spirit world..
Sabre twitches, his wings flicking and pulling Guardian from his thoughts. He looks to Sabre, who only grins at him before turning back to the almost done wing in front of him. Guardian shakes it off, curling his wing in slightly when Sabre double tapped it. He wasn't sure why, it just felt natural, even though nobody had ever used that to indicate they were done. Sabre himself seemed a little surprised, but happy as he continued working on the available outside of the wing.
They worked most of the sunlight away, mainly in silence, only broken by a question or observation. When it got a little too dark, they moved up to the trees to avoid the little amount of mobs emerging. Luckily they had finished just a few minutes before moving, removing the uncomfortability more than enough for them to fly up.
Guardian, after a while of them watching out for Alex, turned to Sabre.
"Are you fine with Alex knowing about them?"
Sabre looked up from his branch with a hum. "I think so. She's a good friend, even with the scuffles we had before. I doubt she'll try anything. Except maybe pet them, she's insane for fluffy things.." he trailed off with a shudder, like the mere thought of her seeing something remotely fluffy was horrific to witness. The Guardian raised a brow, only mildly concerned.
"Well, I hope she returns soon. It's taking her a while.."
"..yeah. And it's dark. There's definitely not a lot of mobs, and she can definitely handle them, but it's still worrying."
Guardian nodded in agreement, shifting to cross his legs. Sabre continued scouring the ground, standing up from the branch he was crouched on and jumping down to a lower one with a little help from his wings. The Guardian bit back his worried comment, far too aware of the promised teasing he would receive.
"What are you doing?" he asked instead. Sabre looked back up from another lower branch with a shrug.
"I'm bored. I'm gonna see if I can see her through the trees real quick."
Guardian sighed. It was like babysitting an actual baby chicken, having to watch out for its small little self so it can't get into any dangerous situations. Except the baby chicken is grown and reckless in the most responsible, good intentioned way possible.
He lept down with Sabre, stretching his wings in time with the other.
"Man, my wings haven't felt this nice in so long!" Sabre sighed happily, fluttering the feathery appendages. Guardian hummed noncommittally, extending the wing closest to Sabre and putting it around him to pull him a little closer. Sabre tucked his wings to his back with a faint flush, but made no move to get away. He chalked it up to Guardians instincts to protect others, due to him being the literal Guardian of the Spirit World. Maybe it spreads to others, not just steves. Surely he does the same with animals and everything too.
"Let's hurry. Maybe she got lost."

I fucking love the Guardian, I wish we had more of him in both series'. Grr he's so *strangles him* RAAA
Also, my view on their worlds (RQ and SS) change often, in different scenarios, because I can't stick to one, for example, the mobs in this one. This one has little mobs, the idea is that while there's typically a lot more mobs in other servers, there's a lack of them here that Sabre chalks up to an entirely different species being here (the Steve's) or something. He's not too sure what causes there to be so little compared to other servers.
In others I might have there be the usual amount you might see, or none at all. I think the lore would be more interesting with mobs, but I know it's roleplay so that can be hard, and most of it was done during the day anyways, so ;3 just a lil heads up just incase I write another thing with mobs so you don't get whiplash or something from the sudden switch ✨
ANYWAYS BAIIII
