Seo Yeon's Pov
It was a tranquil night, where only the sounds of insects chirping could be heard. Given the late hour, only a few people were in the street. The temperature had dropped from the previous night, making me freeze. I looked up at the pristine, pitch-black sky and stretched out my hand, trying to ease my weariness. Working all month long, without any breaks, has been difficult. Jungkook and I could not even converse properly. So we decided to go out for a stroll.
"Here, have this," Jungkook said, handing me the perfectly baked sweet potatoes, which looked appetizing. When I broke them into two halves, hot steam evaporated from them, and I offered one to Jungkook. It tasted like honey and was a good choice to savor on a frosty night.
We strolled down the starlit street, interlacing our hands. The long road ahead was illuminated by the flickering lights of the buildings. The occasional hum of passing vehicles and the crackling of dried leaves on the pavement drifted through the night air. His hand provided warmth and a sense of coziness. It reminded me of the day when Jungkook was too shy to hold my hand on our first outing after he asked me to be his girlfriend. His ears turned red like a raspberry macaron as he gazed at me with his doe-like eyes and stuttered to ask if he could hold my hand. Smiling at the memory, I looked at our interlocked fingers and felt his grip tighten.
Jungkook handed me a note and said, "Let's go on a date. It's been a month since we last went out."
"Who goes on dates to these places? It's strange," I replied, blinking my eyes as I scanned the square-shaped brown paper. There were three places written on it.
"Don't you feel intrigued about why I chose these places?" He questioned me while wearing a look I couldn't decipher on his face. I was perplexed by his weird ideas and dazed at him. The way he asked me to be his girlfriend was distinctive. For fourteen days in a row, he presented me with a glass cork bottle adorned with daisies around the brim of the bottle, each with a piece of paper inside. I was intrigued and confused about why he was presenting those. On the fourteenth day, he told me to take out the paper, and I found that each paper contained random alphabets. I ordered it and realized the words were "Be my girlfriend." As I read that, heat crept up my cheeks.
"Only you would come up with something like this," I teased.
"You get these privileges to explore a strange dating experience because your boyfriend is Jungkook," he said. A smile slowly appeared on his face as he raised his eyebrows.
"Don't brag about yourself, Jungkook. It sounds narcissistic." I nudged his shoulders and waved him goodbye as I started walking toward my home.
Lost in thoughts about our upcoming dates, I didn't notice the huge tree in front of me. I bumped into it and felt a twinge in my head. I turned around and saw Jungkook holding his stomach while laughing.
"Were you thinking about our date?"
"No, I didn't. I was sleepy and did not look at the tree in front of me," I murmured.
Jungkook's pov
I observed her flustered expression and walked over to her, grabbing her waist. "Don't pretend you weren't thinking about our date; you need to be happy about it because it will be a treasured reminder of our relationship," I said. I brushed my nose against her cheeks and pecked her. At my unexpected touch, she appeared frozen.
"I did not think about it," she sneered and turned away, not looking at me.
I spoke softly in her ear, "Don't lie, Yeon." She stomped on my foot, causing me pain, before she ran away.
"Jungkook, don't laugh at me," she yelled.
"Be ready tomorrow," I shouted back to her.
