Warnings: fluff and a bit of smut; can we pretend that he did not kill the younglings?

You just landed, happy to be at your planet again, after a long mission spent fighting the forces of Darth Maul. You had finally defeated the last Mandalorians who had betrayed their nation in order to support the Death Star.

Mandalore was back to the Senate again and you were chosen to be the Duchess. Good news to tell Anakin, you were thinking all the way! You promised the new Prime-Minister you'd think carefully for you were still a Jedi and the Council should be told first before any decision was made.

So there you are. Your relationship would not need to be concealed anymore and with Mandalore out of the Sith rule, things seemed to be positive again.

You could not stop thinking about bringing Anakin with you to Mandalore so you two would finally be able to live the life you wanted. No secrecies, no rules...

But the joy in your mind is swept away when the chaos comes to your eyes. Smoke everywhere, signs of destructions. Pain. Hatred. You feel it and it blows away your good spirits.

No.

You fall on your knees, feeling unwell. The Jedi had fallen and you feel their deaths ripping in your chest. You are shocked and the Force seems to guide you to the ruins of it.

You go with the flow, as if you have lost the control of your steps. You are baffled by how tragedy surrounds you, replacing the idyllic scenario you've been building since you left Mandalore.

But the Force does not let you stay there. It takes you right where Anakin is. He's on his knees, dark cape half slipping of his body, his lightsaber on his side. You feel the hatred in his chest, his frustration, his angst. You should feel mortified for what he did, for his fall, but you understand him.

Yet you cannot move your feet away. He feels you too, he knows you're there, perplexed, paralyzed. Anakin recovers his strength and stands. You see the pain in his eyes and it breaks your heart, even though you feel the good in him.

He's conflicted.

"Y/N", his voice is rusty, shaky. He does not dare to move closer. The distance between you two is small. "You came."

He awaits for your reaction, seeing the tears in your eyes rolling freely down your cheeks. In other times Anakin would cuddle you and wipe the tears away. The memory makes you sob.

"You have no right to judge me", says he upon your stunned silence.

"I..." you choke with words. "I would never." It's when you realize. "I understand you, Ani."

He is caught off guard.

"What?"

You step forward, closing the gap distance in between you two. You put your hands around his face and give him a sad smile.

"I understand your pain, your hatred, your fear. I understand how often you suffocated your needs to put Galaxy's first, how you were never rewarded for what you did as a Jedi. I understand how hurt you were when people criticized you."

You feel every word you say and so does he. Anakin sobs and drops in one knee. You slip in and hold him near. "You are not lost, you did not go to the dark side. You are hurt. Let me heal you, Ani. We don't need the Jedi. We need us."
