Yawnnnn... stretch the back... turn around three times...Plop back down on my bed that i've chewed a hole in four times. A little chilly this morning out in the dog house, but my people have turned on my little dog heater so its nice and toasty warm in my house. Oh no, I hear the patio door open. No, no, no, Mom is coming to take me for my walk. Its so nice and warm. Oh no, shes opening the kennel.
"Buddy, time for your walk" Mom says.
I'm not moving. I'm staying here. You can't make me.
"Buddy now. I have a treat for you."
Ooh a treat. No, no, no, you must resist. I do not want to go for a walk. Although I really do have to pee. No, I'm staying here.
"Buddy let's go. I have to be at work in an hour. Oh Buddy look! A bunny!"
Bunny! Theres a bunny! I'm out! Find the bunny, find the bunny! Run out into the cold run in circles and then slowly realizing...oh there wasn't a bunny. Real funny mom..gee its cold out here. Might as well get my treat now and walk.
"Alright good Buddy, lets go now." Mom says.
Ooh this pavement is cold. Brrr.. Oh ha at least I don't have to wear a little sweater like that dog. I got my fur coat on and Mom hates it when it gets all over her black pants. Yellow hair really sticks out.
"Let's head home buddy" Mom says.
Oh good. I'm getting tired already. My stomach is growling too. Mom only gave me one treat. I'll just nudge her hand. I know she has one more.
"No more buddy." Mom says.
Oh please oh please. I'm so hungry. I know, I'll give her the lab eyes and nudge once more.
"Oh fine, last one okay buddy?"
Oh now I can make it home. I patiently wait for mom to open the gate. Its hard not having thumbs. I run around the yard a few times making sure the bunny isn't around and then run at mom who is carrying my breakfast. She dumps it in my dish and closes the kennel.
"Bye Buddy." Mom says.
Bye mommy. I don't want to be locked up now, but I have food now. I will be good. I promise. Oh where did all my food go? It's all gone. Mom you didn't give me enough. I want more. Mom!
"No bark Buddy!" Mom yells through the window.
Oh well. I'll be okay till supper. I'll just go take a nap. Dog house is nice and toasty warm. I'll just turn once, eh once more, maybe another time, then finally plop myself down right here. I still wish I had more food but maybe a nap sounds real good.Thats the garage door! Their home! Their home! I hope they didn't forget about me, maybe I'll just let them know I'm still here. I got to pee so bad. Let me out!
"Be out in a sec Buddy" Dad yells.
Oh just dad. But I still need to pee. Its been more than a second. Maybe I'll remind him again.
"No Bark Buddy!" Dad yelled again.
Hmpf, I just want to be let out. Oh the patio door opens and I'm waiting at the kennel door. I can't keep my excitement in. Dad opens the door. Ooh yes scratch my ear. Oh that feels good. I think I'll just melt for a bit and lay on the ground. Hey why'd you stop petting me. Okay okay I'll sit back up. Oh is that a treat I smell in your pocket? Oh hes got a dummy to throw for me.
"Ready Buddy? Huh? Go get it?" Dad says
Dad threw the toy. Oh so far. But I'll run anyway, pick it up. I'll just run half speed back. Oh that's right I needed to pee. Stop and do my business and then I'll take it back to dad. Hopefully he doesn't throw it again. Next time he should just get it.
"Good Buddy" Dad says scratching my ear.
I got a treat! Oh but now hes throwing it again? I think I'll just go sit over here in the grass.
"Buddy fetch!" Dad says pointing at the toy.
Ugh, that is way too much work. I am not getting that again.
"Buddy, come on. Oh looks like mom and the kids are home." Dad says.
Mom! Kids! Yeah! Mom is opening the door, oh I'll go see her. Run faster.
"Oh hi buddy, did you miss me?" Mom says.
Oh yes I did, it was very lonely here all by myself. Oh kids! Hello! I think I'll steal a kiss. Just a little one on this little guy.
"Buddy! Be careful you could've knocked him over" Mom scolds.
Oh, guess I can't do that, but pet me more anyway. Is it supper time now? Oh I think Mom is getting my supper. Yeah! She is!
"Kennel time Buddy" Mom says.
Oh kennel. A dogs prison. Hey this is the same food I had for breakfast. I think I had this yesterday too, and now that I think about it, the day before too. I want good food. I am hungry though. I will eat this. Yes. Mom buried a treat too! Oh now where'd it all go? Guess its time for another nap. Being a dog is a tough life.
