Trepidation clawed at her as she carefully opened the envelope. Inside was a letter, also written in the same graceful script:

"Dearest Emily,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. It has come to our attention that the Aldenon family is in need of an heir. After years of searching, it has been determined that you are the rightful heir to the Aldenon fortune. We implore you to return to the family estate to claim what is rightfully yours.

Emily's mind raced as she read the letter again and again. She had been cut off from the Aldenon family for so long that she barely remembered her relatives. But the allure of the family fortune was undeniable, and the letter left her with no choice but to visit the Aldenon estate.
