My Super Awesome and not at all Tragic backstory

Life is Tough. It's a well known fact, something that has probably been known since the dawn of time...or at least the dawn of the first thing capable of living. I'm thinking a plant. Not the point, anyway life is tough.

Which roughly translates to sometimes it fucking sucks.

Growing up you were homeschooled by your father. Your mother died shortly after you were born and since then he had thrown himself into his work, not just as a father but as a medical scientist. He was always on the brink of discovery. You felt guilty taking up so much of his time...sometimes. Other times you were envious of kids who went to 'normal' school, at least they made friends. You? Not so much.

Fast forward and you're 16 years old, focused on finishing your father's version of highschool. You had practically inherited his smarts, when you did your homework in the lab it was like you were running circles around him, helping him out with his research. He'd laugh and say 'maybe you should be building this thing then'. You'd laugh back and say 'I'll leave the super brainy stuff to you Dad'.

One night you were doing your homework, you and your dad were about to share a pizza, he was working his ass off as per usual. Pulling him away from the computer, you insisted he should stop to at least take care of himself, pointing to the food.

Thankfully he took your advice and wandered over to the box, it was next to your homework besides his invention. He had just been running a check on it through his computer, you gave the check a quick glance.

Wait...that's not right-

"DAD-"

...the machine blew up.

Fast forward another two years and you're living on the streets, you'd found other people who were down on their luck like you. Nice enough. You all took care of each other, a rag tag team.

That was until the suits came. One minute you're picking through a trash can, the next you're being stuffed into the back of an unmarked van with something punctured into the back of your neck.

Then it went dark.

When you woke up you were in a jail cell with a collar wrapped round your neck. You immediately think the worst, human traffickers got the jump on you.

That is until a lady in a red suit walks into the room, she introduces herself.

Amanda Waller. You were going to be kept here until further notice, she said.

"What do you mean? What have I done wrong?" She went silent at that. Like she could tell you but she chose not to.

"I-It's because of my powers...isn't it?" You asked.

"Yes." That's all she said before she walked back out.

Another year passed before she even acknowledged you again, this time she said she needed you, she needed you to join a team of, you guessed it! Super Villains, whose mission it was to take down, yup, an even bigger super villain.

"Why?" You asked, at this point bored out of your skull.

"Because I asked nicely." It was the way she said it that sent chills down your spine, sure you were dangerous. But Amanda Waller was not a person you chose to 'fuck around and find out' with. Usually because you end up never finding out. 'Cause you're dead.

Without room for further argument, you went along with what she asked of you.

That was when you met Rick Flag. He was in the army, he knew the situation you were in and he was the nicest person you had met since coming to Belle Reve. He treated you like a human being, which is the bare fucking minimum if you ask me.

You liked him, you thought of him as a friend. You didn't talk to anyone once you left your jail cell. There wasn't really much for you to say in the first place. Even if you hadn't talked to anyone worthwhile for the better part of a year.

Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Katana and Chato Santana. They were...interesting, to say the least.

To make a long story short, you all fought this badass crazy chic called Enchantress who had basically possessed the body of a Dr. June Moone, who just so happened to be Rick Flag's girlfriend. Go Figure.

Somehow Amanda Waller got kidnapped at some point but the whole point of it ended up being not rescuing her but saving the world. All in all, you did alright. The Enchantress chic was defeated, you thought Dr. Moone was dead for a second but it turns out she was alive! Yay!

Almost all of the Squad got to go home. Except Chato, he was with his family now. You made some friends...for once.

Oh, and remember when you got thrown into the back of that van? Yeah, you didn't just get knocked out...Amanda Waller had a bomb put in the back of your skull.

So...not great.

Saving the world had its perks though. You were 19 now but hey, Rick Flagg helped you finally get your highschool diploma. He would tutor you whenever he had the chance. He became like a big brother to you. That was until you got let out of Belle Reve once and for all.

Turns out Rick had got in contact with the right people and they helped plead your case to Waller, saying as long as you were on your best behavior you wouldn't hurt anyone. That if you were trained to use your powers for good and given the chance to actually be good. You could get your life back. One that didn't involve nasty-ass prison food.

Although, you found out, the 'right people' ended up being the freaking Justice League.

So, you were a superhero now. Or at least trying to be. Diana played a heavy part in your training, with her being a demigod and all. She threw lightning at you sometimes, you had fun. You made more friends.

Next thing you know, four years have passed and you're sat at this huge table listening to Batman and Superman berate you for something that wasn't even your fault.

That was the moment when you stood up...and walked out.

It's been a while but you haven't even bothered to look back.
