When Charlie returned he gave us our drinks and smiled.

" You look really familiar. Whats your name?"

Sliding a strand of hair back behind my ear, I looked up to him with what I hoped were very mysterious and seductive eyes. "Lena."

"Lena." He repeated the name to himself. He then proceeded to tell us he was sorry but his shift had ended and he had to meet someone. About a minute later a new waiter came with the name of Frank and looked to be about 40!

Charlie slipped out the door with a quick wave and pulled a hoodie over his head before disappearing behind the far end of the building.

Later Frank returned to gather our plates and hand the me the bill. Inside along with the order and total was a few scribbled words.

Now I know where Iv'e seen you, your the girl who runs on the beach. -Charlie

This was crazy! After I paid I asked if I could take the sheet home,..Frank looked a little confused but handed it over to be with a rather large and obnoxious grunt sound. Unfortunately I had no one to gab to about my events that occurred at dinner. Nor did I have any witnesses, except maybe Olive, but even she had been transfixed by the coloring book that Mr. Handsome had given to her. Who was this Jane Character? Was that were he was dashing off to? It sickened me to think of him with some stranger he hadn't even met. Oh flip. I just described myself. I was a complete stranger... But this could quite possibly be something good,..if he hasn't met her then maybe I can be a different stranger, one that was better then this Jane Chick.

I wandered down the steps of our second story to see my mother trying to make dinner. A process that should not be permitted by people such as she. I suppose the only way we manage to eat whatever it is she makes, is because each meal is made with her secret ingredient "love". Or at least that is what my father would tell me when I was younger to make me eat it. He always had a way of spinning the truth and making it something that was about as true as the mermaid who guarded the waters of California. This too he said so I would venture more into the deep blue hued world. I had grown up loving the sight of the water,..but never truly being the strongest believer that it was safe. Now I had managed to relieve myself from that fear. But I had a feeling that it would venture back into my thoughts like everything else did. Perhaps this fear was just be taking a coffee brake with some other thoughts of mine.

I walked around the plain kitchen table and took a seat on the counter top. "Ug how hard is it to make this green pasta dish? It's suppose to be really easy. It's just chicken, and basil,.." Thank god. The pasta was green on purpose.  But when had she mentioned having nuts in it?

"Yum." was all I could say.
