"Okay. We flip a coin and it decides if Ben or Lenny is it,got it?"Vanessa explain as she got out a coin from the pocket of her jeans.

The rest of the kids nodded their heads as they glanced at the two unlucky dopes who drew the short straws. On that gloomy evening, the kids of the Happy Smiles orphanage had decided to play Hide & Seek. The staff of the orphanage have all gone to a sponsor's wedding, leaving the oldest child,Vanessa,in charge for the evening.

As Vanessa flipped the coin up in the air with the other 9 kids holding their breaths, the quick and loud pitter patter of the raindrops outside bounced off the windows of the orphanage.

Vanessa caught the coin and the kids engulfed her in a circle. One of them looked over her shoulder and caught a glimpse of which side the coin was on.

"It's tails!Lenny's it!"he screamed into Vanessa's ear.

"George!"Vanessa scolded.A loud clap of thunder was heard. The orphans screamed in fright, the echo of the thunder and their screams resounding off the walls.

"Relax everyone! It's just thunder,"Vanessa went around calming down the kids.At 14,she was the oldest out of the lot and despite her young age,she was very mature. She was always the one keeping an eye on the children when the adults were busy and just helping around the orphanage.

"Now,"she continued."Shall we start the game?"

Lenny grudgingly dragged his feet to the 'counting corner'.As he started counting, the rest of the kids, including Vanessa, were in a frenzy as they scrambled to find a hiding spot. Most of the kids broke off in pairs and three were whisper-fighting over who would get Vanessa as a partner.

A little red head's eyes were darting in all corners of the orphanage as she tip toed quickly to find a hiding spot. One advantage of the unique structure of the building was that if you shouted anywhere,it echoes off the walls. So everyone could hear Lenny counting.

As he struggled to remember what came after 29,the little red head had already been to most of the possible hiding places in orphanage. She was very competitive so of course she was in it to win it.All the possible hiding spots she found were either too obvious or someone was already there and had told her to find another hiding place.

"Ready or not,here I come!"

She started to panic when she heard those words. She ran down the hallway she was in.She swiftly turned in every corner that was in her way until she reached a door.

This little girl was quite new to the orphanage and had only seen the adults and some visitors enter through the door.Plus, the door had a sign that said 'Keep Out'.

She smiled as she thought,"Aha!Miss Poppy has always told us not to go in here so no one would dare to go in!".

She heard footsteps approaching. Her hand was on the door knob but once she turned it,she realized it was locked. She turned the knob again and again, getting more and more panicked each time.

"Elena!"

She turned and saw that the kids were all rounded up with the staff. It was obvious that the staff had just came back from a wedding as they were in their best dresses and suits.

"What are you doing?"Miss Poppy demanded, stepping towards Elena.

"I...I was looking for a hiding spot and I saw there was no where else to hide so I...wanted to hide here,"Elena answered in a trembling voice.

Miss Poppy noticed Elena's eyes beginning to cover with a blanket of water so she softened and placed her hands on Elena's shoulders.

"Hey,I'm sorry.I didn't mean for it to come out like that,"Miss Poppy smiled apologetically."Just please, don't go in there."

"Why?"Elena asked.

"Because-"

"Because there are somethings that aren't meant for you to find out."

Everyone looked over to Mr Reinks, who had spoke up.His face was hard and stone cold.

The kids were packed in a tight circle.Vanessa gestured for Elena to go over to them.Elena ran over to the other kids, frightened.

Miss Poppy straightened. And in a calm, steady voice, told the kids to go to bed.As the kids filed out into bedroom,Elena turned back to the staff, who were heading into the meeting room. She frowned before thinking the very question that was on everyone of the kids' minds.

"What is in that room?"
