Carrie was a young 25 year old women. Holding a pen, her hands quivered while writing a letter to her daughter. She couldn't stop crying while writing this, knowing that it all may be true.

Dear Alice,

If you are reading this, it means that both me and your father are dead. I am very sorry to say this, but I must leave and part ways with you, though I love you very, very much. Your father is in war, mand I must go with him, or they will hunt me down and kill him before me, and make me a slave. I love your father too much for that. So please forgive me for this. I hope you won't ever have to to read this, if  we dont die.

Now, I will give you on piece of advice, always follow your heart no matter what happens, and do what you think is right. I don't have much time left my little baby, but by the time your reading this, you will be a grown beautiful women. Mark and Angel Hughes, both me and your fathers close friends are most likely looking after you now. Me and your father love you so much. Its incredible what love can do, isn't it. I might die, yet I will look for your father, cause I love him. There are photos of us in this envelope as well. I guess its time to say good bye beautiful Alice.

Please remember us. We are still with you...

Love,

Carrie Barnos, your late mother

After writing the letter, she put all the photos in the envelope and gave it to the nurse. Carrie stroked my baby Alice's cheek, who was beside me in the cradle in the hospital, sleeping peacefully. After hugging her, she started crying all over again, having to part ways with her two month infant. "I love you..." She whispered to the infant.

16 years later, Alice read the letter that her foster parents finally gave her.
