Standing in front of the mirror in a dim lit white room, Adeline's body shook lightly as her personal dresser kept on pulling the strings of the dress Adeline was wearing; making sure that the dress hugs her petite figure perfectly. It was the day she turned twenty, twenty years after she was born; twenty years being unwanted. Adeline sighed, just thinking about it.
"Hey, cheer up. It's your birthday," Shasha, Adeline's dresser, said, while her hands were tying the strings into a tidy ribbon. Adeline could only flash her smile to Shasha, a very bitter some smile. Shasha excused herself when they heard someone knocking the door. When Shasha went out of the room, Mia came into the room with a book and her pencil case in her hands. Mia walked towards Adeline with a smile plastered on her face.
"Sis, can you help me?" Mia asked; her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
"Sure," Adeline said with a smile across her face. She led her sister towards her bed. Sitting on her bed, she stared at.her sister, who was sitting in front of her. She had a pair of beautiful deep forest green doe eyes (she inherited from their father); that shows innocence. Mia's eyes show people that she was a positive person, a person who is glad to be.alive, a person who has nothing to hide. She was like a ray of sunshine and she's someone who would never let anyone to bring her down.Adeline was a complete opposite of Mia. She had a pair of icy blue doe eyes, which never showed innocence, her eyes show negativity; her eyes never show what she was feeling. The only feeling people saw from her eyes was disappointment, a negative feeling she never wanted to show. Adeline never knew whose eyes she inherited from. Their father had exactly the same eyes like Mia's, deep forest green eyes. Their mother had a pair of amber eyes. Every time she stared into Mia's eyes, Adeline could feel despair; she couldn't help herself but to think whose eyes she inherited. But then again, her thoughts were always ended by her father's words; that she was different. And maybe, just maybe, the fact that her eyes were icy blue was also because she was different. But she hoped that, that wasn't it.
"Umm... Adeline? Are you going to help me?" Mia asked, raising one of her eyebrows and her face frowned slightly. She still looked beyond beautiful.
"I'm sorry, I got carried away," Adeline said as she pinched the bridge of her nose. She couldn't believe that she had been dragging her sister's precious time by thinking about things that were not worth it. Mia looked at her sister one more time before she ensued to ask Adeline that she needs.help on.
"I don't quite understand about atherosclerosis. Can you please explain it to me?" Mia asked as she put both of her hand together, bringing them up to her nose while batting her eyelashes; cutely pleading her sister. Adeline sighed and smiled at how cute her sister was.
"Atherosclerosis is caused by fats sticking on the walls of the arteries. These fats sticking on the walls of the arteries will only grow by years. And sometimes, some of the fats molecules will separate from the other fats molecules sticking on the walls.of the arteries. Is this a good thing?.No. Because, you know.that the arteries' lumens get smaller and smaller until the size of the lumen is smaller than the fats molecules and if the fats molecules were to flow through the arteries, it will reach a point where it can no longer flow through the arteries because it is bigger than the lumen. And just like that, the fats molecules will block the arteries and oxygen will no longer be able to be transported to some part of the body; which leads to the failure of those body parts and this is very dangerous," Adeline explained as she glanced over her sister at times; who was continuously nodding her head while jotting down some of the important points down in her notebook.
"Do you understand it now?" Adeline asked as she ran her fingers to tug some strands of Mia's hair behind her ears.
"Yup," Mia beamed as she put her pen and notebook on Adeline's bed, reaching for Adeline's hands after. Mia grabbed Adeline's hands and pulled her up to stand on her feet.
