**Zora's POV**

“Cut off his fingers!” Lucien and I exclaimed at the same time. Who did she think she was passing such a judgment?

“Is she really going to do it?” Lucien asked me, his eyes fixed on what was happening.

“How am I supposed to know?” I snapped.

“Well, she's your best friend. You should know the kind of things she's capable of doing.” He replied and I sighed.

“Even I don't know the kind of monster she has turned into. She just… changed overnight.” I sighed and moved to get a better look.

The man started weeping immediately, but Elora stood there with an expressionless face. Her expression was so hard to read that no one could guess what she was actually going to do next.

“I told you, and I'm going to tell you again. Mercy isn't in my dictionary!” She snapped at the man, whose face was already covered in tears. “I have made up my mind, and that is for you to get your deserved punishment.”

“But—” The man wanted to speak.

“Silence!” Elora snapped and everyone gasped. Some flinched, while others shuddered. Even I wasn't left out of the shock. I felt intimidated by the authority she exerted, but I didn't let myself show how afraid I truly was.

“Oh my goodness! She's cruel!” Lucien snapped.

“Which is why we need to end her fast. We can't let her grow like this. If we do, she's going to be the death of us all.” I said, and Lucien nodded.

This was too cruel, and she would pay for it. All the man did was steal some stupid things from the treasury. It's not as if he were the first person to try something like that. People have stolen and gotten away with it, some were forgiven, but I just don't know what the hell is wrong with Elora. She decided to just wake up one morning and cut everyone and now, she's trying to kill somebody? It makes no sense.

I saw the knife coming towards his fingers, slicing through them in one fluid motion. The sound of the bone snapping sounded very loud in the silence that followed Elora's action.

I gasped as blood splattered everywhere and people screamed. Some who couldn't stand the gory sight looked away immediately. The man screamed as his fingers rolled to the floor. My eyes went to Elora, who didn't even flinch at the sight of blood. She seemed as if she'd experienced this before, maybe many times.

There was silence after the scream. Everyone waited in anticipation for her next action, watching their breaths hitch and their mouths go slack. This was not going well. This was definitely not going to be the last time Elora tried to murder someone.

“Next hand,” She finally said, and the guards grabbed another hand. There was more screaming and sobbing, and the man cried even harder than before. His body shook in pain and he kept repeating his apologies. At this moment, I didn't see the Elora I knew, but the devil himself.
