Changmin's POV

I was just sleeping when my phone started buzzing from messages. I groaned before opening my eyes and rubbing them. I then checked the time on my phone. 2:00 am. I rolled my eyes and sighed before checking the messages.

Rikiii: hey minnieee!

Rikiii: Srry to bother u rn.

Rikiii: I was just bored n didn't know what to do so I decided to text u.

Rikiii: R u awake rn?

Me: hey riki. I was just sleeping earlier. Ur text woke me up.

Rikiii: oh sorry. But anyways do u have time to talk? Or do u have to sleep?

Me: it's a sch night ofc I have to sleep. N if ur bored text koyoung or smt. I'm tired.

Rikiii: oh. But she's sleeping rn. Ig ill just sleep then. Gn minnieee

Me: gn riki.

I sighed and put my phone on my bedside and charged it. I then got thirsty and went to the kitchen. I went to the fridge and got my water. I then drank it and went back to my room. I got on my bed and went back to sleep.

Riki's POV

I turned my phone off and charged it. "Why is changmin like this? Maybe she's just tired, that's it?" I said before assuring myself that she wasn't going to act like that anymore. I sighed and just turned off my light and turned on the AC before going on my bed and sleeping.

I kept tossing and turning in my sleep, still wondering why changmin was acting like that. I assured myself, yes, but she usually doesn't act like that even if she is tired. I just tried brushing it off and just closed my eyes and went back to sleep.

Timeskip

I woke up and rubbed my eyes. I got up and went to wash up. After I wash up, I went down to see if my mother prepared anything. My mother cooked waffles. I sat down and ate before washing the dishes. I then went back to my room and went to my phone. I then messaged someone.

Changmin's POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I sat up and just started off into the abyss for a few minutes like I do every morning. I then got up and went to wash up. I went down to eat the breakfast my mom prepared. I went to the dining room and saw my mother and sister already sitting and eating. I then sat down and started eating. I then finished eating and washed my dishes. I then went to my closet to get my school uniform when someone texted me.

Rikiii: gm minnieee! Had a good sleep?

Me: good morning riki. Ye, I did. Anyways, need something?

Rikiii: right, do u want me to drive u to sch tdy?

Me: No thank you. I'll walk there myself.

Rikiii: u sure?

Me: ye

Rikiii: rlly?

Me: yes

Rikiii: rllyyy?? 100%??

Me: yes omg.

Rikiii: but ur hse is quite far from the sch. U sure u dont want me to drive u?

Me: riki. I alr said yes. Im sure.

Rikiii: r u veryyyyy sure?????

Me: riki. For the last time, yes. I am sure.

Rikiii: oh okk. Anywayss ill see u at sch!

I left riki on read and changed into my school uniform. After changing, I grabbed my phone, my bag, my water bottle, and my glasses. I put on my glasses before leaving my room to go to the kitchen where my mother was.

"Mom, I'm heading out now."

"Ok honey. I love you. And remember, stay safe, ok?" My mother said while kissing my forhead.

"Ok, mom, I love you too! And yes, I know. I'll be aware of my surroundings. I have to go now byee!" I kissed my mother's forehead as well before leaving the house.

I left my house and put on my shoes. I started walking to school when I heard a car horn honk. I turned to where the sound came from and saw a familiar car.

Riki's car.

Riki continued driving until it came to a stop once it was beside me. Riki rolled down the window, smiling at me.

"Hey, changmin! I know you said not to come pick you up, but as I said, your house is really far from the school. I know you wouldn't want to suffer by walking such a long distance to school sooo here I am!" Riki said enthusiastically.

My heart warmed up as he still decided to pull up to my house, even after how I acted towrads him. "Riki, I already said you didn't have to," I stated, looking annoyed, but felt warm on the inside. I internally slapped myself, thinking that he would do it for any other person since he has such a kind soul.

"Hey, you're my friend, don't worry." He spoke.
I rolled my eyes. Yeah, 'friend'. Where did the word best friend go? Was he too busy with koyoung? Did he forget about me?

"Changmin, just get in, please. Maybe we can get ice cream after school? My treat." He said, trying to convince me to get in the car.

I kept saying no, but Riki kept insisting I go in. After many attempts, I gave in and got into the car. Once I got in, Riki started talking to me about koyoung while driving. He has been talking about her ever since koyoung approached him. All of our conversations always end in him talking about her.

Koyoung this. Koyoung that.

I have had enough of him talking about koyoung. I want to tell him that. But I didn't want to hurt that precious heart of his. His heart was pure. Too pure. Too kind for this cruel world. He would just trust anyone with a blink of an eye.

Riki continued yapping about how beautiful koyoung is. How caring she is. How kind she is. How she is his type. How he loves her.

My heart shatters into millions of pieces as he goes on and on about Koyoung. I have liked Riki since kindergarten. I just never had the courage to tell him that as I was scared to ruin our friendship. But of course koyoung had to jump between mine and Riki's friendship, slowly separating us.

But, no matter how many times he talks about how much he likes her or how pretty she is, I'm not giving my hopes up on him. Maybe... just maybe, he will like me back one day. Just like how he likes Koyoung now.
