Brian meets Stephanie

Nightmares

Stephanie had gotten in the passengers seat of Catherine's car while Catherine, of course, sat in the driver's seat and began driving home.

Catherine decided to start talking to the girl to take her mind off of the troubling situation that occurred earlier.

"So Stephanie, you're going to be living with us now, which room do you want to sleep in?" Catherine asked.

Stephanie thought for a moment. "Um, can I be with Brian?" She asked this cause she felt the most comfortable with Brian.

Catherine thought about it for a moment before saying. "Oh, sure."

Stephanie walked to Brian's door and knocked on the door.

Brian opened his bedroom door to see Stephanie, he already knew what had happened so he let her in his room.

"You can come in, Stephanie."

Stephanie just walked into the room, not sure what to say.

Brian decided to break the silence by saying. "Hang on, I'll go see if we have a sleeping bag or something that you could sleep on." Brian already knew what had happened and that Stephanie was going to sleep in his room with him indefinitely.

Brian came back a couple minutes later with a sleeping bag.

He walked in the room and saw Stephanie sitting on his chair just practically spacing out.

Brian saw this, he knew that it was probably from what just happened so he didn't want to bother her too much, but he knew she definitely needed some sleep right now, not only was it getting late, but after the day she's had she had to be exhausted.

"Hey, Stephanie. I got the sleeping bag. You wanna try going to sleep? I'm sure you're very tired."

Stephanie snapped out of her trance. She was actually pretty tired but she was scared. Not only of what just happened but also she knew it'd be too dark.

Brian saw the worry on her face and asked. "Stephanie, what's wrong?"

Stephanie hesitated before muttering. "It's too dark."

Brian was able to understand what she was saying. It quickly clicked in his mind that Stephanie was afraid of the dark and Brian didn't have a night light.

"Wait one second, I'll go find a night light!" Brian said before leaving the room once again.

Brian went to his parents bedroom. "Mom and dad, are there any spare nightlights?"

Dave then said. "Yeah, Brian. They're in our closet."

Catherine then asked. "But why do you need them?"

Brian decided to answer truthfully. "Stephanie is scared of the dark."

Catherine then said. "Oh, I see."

Brian had come back and put the nightlight into the outlet, he turned off the room light and it was still bright enough for Stephanie to stay calm.

Brian got into bed. "Alright, sleep tight, Stephanie."

Stephanie just said. "Night, Brian." Before drifting off.

{Stephanie's Nightmare/Flashback}

Six year old Stephanie walked into school with bruises on her arms from her father from the previous night after failing a test.

Eventually the teacher saw this and pulled her aside and asked her what happened.

Stephanie decided that for once maybe she could tell the truth.
