Sports Festival

Being woken up is not one of my favourite things, especially being woken up early. Dad knows this and yet he did it anyways, I glared at him as soon as I manage to actually open my eyes.

"I'll make you some tea, it's the sports festival today so we have to be there early."

I pout but nod and roll off my bed and onto the pillows I always have on the floor beside my bed for this exact reason. As I get up from the floor my brain fully processes what dad said and I bolt upwards and into my closet to get dressed. This is it, today's the day! The Sports Festival!

Once I've dressed and freshened up I head down stairs and sit at the kitchen counter as dad puts a plate of scrambled eggs, my favourite, and bacon in front of me. I tuck into the food as he watches me with a faraway look in his eyes that he sometimes gets when he makes me scrambled eggs. Probably remembering when we met and my first night here, it's the main reason his scrambled eggs are my favourite, not because they taste fantastic but because it reminds me of the night he gave me my first real home.

"I'm proud of you kid." I look up to see him giving me one of his small smiles that always fills me with warmth, "no matter how today goes, I know you'll do your best and that's what matters." He comes around to my side of the counter and pets my head as I lean against him.

"I love you dad."

"Me too, kid. Now grab your tea and let's go." He hands me a thermal canister with my favourite morning tea. I quickly help him with his bandages as he turns back to his stoic self.

Since we got there super early to avoid crowds and because dad is helping Uncle Mic in the commentators booth I decided to take a nap in the waiting area. So there I am dosing off laying along the table bench in my gym uniform and specialized sneaker heels Nezu had made for me since unfortunately no hero costumes are allowed. I hear the door open and close followed by the stomping of a singular pair of feet. My ears twitch a little as I hear the stomps come up to me and while I have a good idea of who it is, it's confirmed as I get a strong whiff of his signature caramel scent when he sits down next to my head. Immediately I get the brilliant idea to use his lap as a pillow, so I do just that and feel him tense completely for a moment before his body slowly relaxes. I keep my eyes closed but I feel my lips stretch into a soft smile, which only grows when I feel his hand on my head petting my hair and ears. I knew he was a secret softy.

I jolt up to Robot Boy yelling to get ready to leave and softly growl in the back of my throat.

"So it really was you who growled on the bus when we were heading to the USJ." Bakugo muses under his breath to me.

Now seated rather than laying down I look over at him, I nod as I study his face. The sheer determination I feel radiating off of him is pretty motivating. "You're going to give it your all to win right?" I ask him. He looks over at me and nods confirmation, "then today we are rivals, don't hold back against me Pomeranian." I grin at him before leaving the room to head towards the tunnels where we'll come out. I just wanted to get away from the building tension before it made me spaz out.

I see Shinso and walk up to him, ignoring his classmates, "Toshi~! You ready for this?" He looks over at me and grins.

"You bet your tail I am." He pets my head and I let out a satisfied hum.

"Remember if either of us need help we help eachother, we need to at least make it to the final round of activities. So long as you're in the tournament, no matter where you place will leave a HUGE impression on everyone. Dad also said that pervert in my class is likely to get expelled if he gets caught doing something again. So there'll be a spot opening in my class soon!" We both smirk evily like my dad. I hear my classmates approaching so I give Toshi a quick hug and run off to join them, giggling as I hear his classmates starting to question him.
