Days passed, and my session was coming to an end, after a month we'll all be scattered around the globe for internships. My college definitely has an internship drive which will help you find one but they have given us a chance to find one for ourselves, and if we are able to do so, it will help during the actual placement when I get my degree, we have an ingrained one year internship as the third year syllabus and post that 6 months of classes, final exams and then you are done. You can continue your education after that of course but that's up to you. The USA education system is different from anywhere else in the world.

As of now, I have a few clients I work with here and there for a passive income and people here pay well, so I am able to afford my lifestyle for now. But that's a temporary gig. I want more.

Like right now, I was preparing a budget chart with a client for his new club. It's always an insightful process to look into the minds of people and see how exactly different we all are from each other even when it's something as simple as a small circle detail on the wall. And also, how much these people are willing to pay for something as minute as that will never not surprise me. And the fact that this man infront of me has hired different people for different rooms.

"Handover the blueprint within a week we'll get the work started.", He said as we concluded the chart and he offered to walk me out.

"Sure."

"I assume you are only here for a month and then you'll be gone for a while.", He said.

"I'm not quite sure about that.", I said and offered him a smile, which maybe came out as a sad one.

"I think you are excellent at what you are doing at this stage of learning and anyone who can't see that is clearly at a loss. Stop underestimating yourself and be more confident in your ideas, that will be enough.", He said as we reached the gate of the club and I turned to him with a grateful smile.

"Thank-you Dante. I'll remember that.", I said and we shook hands, he nodded at me and I left.

I made a quick stop at a cafe to grab something to eat before heading home as I hadn't had lunch and my stomach demanded some attention now.

I was busy people watching and enjoying my chocolate pastry when my phone pinged, and I was so sure that it's either of my roommates asking me to bring something for them on my way home. But what I saw, blew my mind. Like absolutely really truly blew my mind.

And then, I had to make a call, because I don't think I'll be able to stand on two feet after reading this.

"Rose, can you pick me up from this place. I'm sending you my location.", I called my friend.

Dear Avni,

We got your mail regarding an internship at Gauri Khan Designs and are pleased to inform you that we are looking forward to considering your application.

We went through your portfolio and are impressed by the quality of work you have delivered over the past few months to your clients.

You'll have a meet and greet interview with someone from our team, details of the meeting are attached with this mail.

Once the interview is done, you'll be communicated for further processes via mail if we find you suitable enough for the role.

Hoping to see you on the meet.

Regards,
Avantika Mishra.

Gianna read out the mail out loud and that was a confirmation that it was real. I wasn't dreaming, I wasn't hallucinating. I had actually got an email from The Gauri Khan's company offering an internship.

"That's great Av!!! I knew you would find an internship, why are you so worked up relax now, you've got what you wanted. You can go to India. And we are so happy for you.", Rose said shaking me with the brightest smile on her face.

"The thing is, This Gauri Khan isn't just some designer, she is Shah Rukh Khan's wife.", I said bursting their bubble and there was a pause. A long pause, we all exchanged looks, pure shock gracing their features

"He is married? We are gonna have a problem here.", Gianna broke the ice with the one thing that I had least expected anyone to say after hearing the news.

"Seriously Gianna?", I asked her with the biggest frown on my face.

"Avni that's huge. Like titanic sized huge.", Rose said, she has always been the calmest of us all.

"And I'm so happy for you. You are gonna live the dreams of people.", She added in that soft voice of hers wrapping an arm around my shoulder.

"I don't think I'll even clear the interviews.", I said, because I understand the gravity of the situation and it would be a dream to be accepted by The Gauri Khan.

"Shut the fuck up Av! I've had enough of you belittling yourself. I won't tolerate that in my house anymore.", Rose, my sweet innocent Rose, scolded me for maybe the first time ever.

"Aren't you guys sad? That now it's confirmed that I'm leaving.", I said, trying my best to change the topic to calm my nerves

"We all are going for the time being Av. And we'll be back here. And us seperating is inevitable, it has to happen one day.", Gianna, the always funny Gianna, said that. Okay I know it's true and that makes me emotional.

"Okay let's celebrate this. Stop getting emo girls, this is BIG. Please let's just go out and eat in a Michelin star restaurant and then go watch a broadway or something.", Rose said, excitedly getting up and clapping her hands like a baby

"Why don't we go meet your parents instead?", I asked her and she hugged me again. I would rather celebrate with family than do extravagant stuff. Not like I don't like extravagant things, I do. I so definitely do. But not today, today I want the comfort of home.

And that's what we did, Rose's parents hosted us for a Chinese dinner, and we had heartfelt conversations on the dinner table and ended up spending the night at Rose's place.

"Don't forget us once you go back to India.",  Uncle said when we were leaving in the morning for college.

"Rather, you don't forget me when I'm gone.", I said to him.

"How can I? I sent one daughter to college, and now I have three." He said ruffling my hair. I don't get easily emotional but that made me sad. Really actually sad. But I'll be back in a year so it's not that sad honestly but for the time being.

And then, I started preparing for my way back to India.

Helloo!!!!
So much drama is going to unfold and I know I am testing your patience by not having Shubman come to the story already.
But good things come to those who wait. So *wink wink*
And meanwhile, please drop some inspiration in the form of comments for me to write further.
XOXO
