OLIVER
---
The four of us crouched behind a cluster of rocks, staring up at the mountainside that shielded the facility. Zoe's idea of stealthily taking out the guards had crumbled under the sheer number of them. They dotted the ridge, vigilant, ready to sound the alarm at any sign of intrusion.
"We can't use the element of surprise," Zoe said in a hushed tone. "There are just too many of them up there. If we start taking them out, they'll raise the alarm before we even get close."
I could feel the tension in the air, the weight of our mission pressing on us. This was it, the final push to infiltrate the facility and expose the government's cruel experiments on Beings. We couldn't afford to fail.
Eleanor clenched her fists, her telepathic abilities honed in on the guards' thoughts as she glanced at the guards. "So, what's the plan now? We just rush in and hope for the best?"
Frank raised his hand, flames dancing in his palm. "No, that would be suicide. We need to fight our way through, but we have to be smart about it. Take them out swiftly and silently."
Zoe nodded. "Once we engage, they might call for backup inside the facility. We need to make sure they don't get the chance. Frank, can you create distractions with your fire while we neutralize the guards?"
Frank nodded, flames flickering eagerly. "Absolutely. I'll light up the night."
"Good," Zoe whispered. "Now, let's make our move."
With a coordinated signal, we burst from our cover, rushing toward the guards. Frank led the charge, flames roaring from his palms as he engaged the nearest guards. Eleanor followed, using her telekinetic abilities to disrupt their coordination and focus.
I concentrated on manipulating the air, creating powerful gusts that knocked guards off balance and sent their bullets astray. Zoe stood her ground, providing a protective energy shield around us that deflected bullets harmlessly.
Amid the chaos, the guards struggled to react. Some attempted to call for backup, but Eleanor used her telepathic abilities to jam their communications. It was a brutal and intense fight, our powers clashing against their firepower.
Frank's fire engulfed one of the guards, his screams filling the air as he dropped his weapon and flailed in pain. Eleanor disabled another guard's mind temporarily, leaving him disoriented and vulnerable.
As we advanced, more guards rushed to the scene, but we held them off with a combination of powers and teamwork. It was a fierce battle, and I could see the fear and desperation in the guards' eyes.
After what felt like an eternity, the mountainside was clear. The guards lay defeated or incapacitated. We stood there, panting and victorious.
"Is everyone okay?" Zoe asked, her voice shaky but relieved.
We nodded in unison, our adrenaline still pumping. We had cleared the first hurdle, but the facility awaited, its secrets hidden behind locked doors and guarded corridors. We couldn't afford to let our guard down.
"We've made it this far," Frank said, his fiery aura dimming. "We can't stop now. Let's finish this."
With newfound determination, we pressed on, moving closer to our ultimate goal: exposing the truth and bringing justice to Beings everywhere.
