The embodiment of strength is Yoongi, the man who tirelessly shuttles between the mortuary and the ICU. His duties range from arranging blood supplies to delivering medicines and overseeing postmortems of the deceased. Yet, he appears resilient enough to manage it all single-handedly.
"Mr. Kim, how are you feeling now?" inquired the doctor, addressing Namjoon.
"Good," Namjoon replied as he slowly rose from his hospital bed and made his way to the ICCU, where his children were receiving care. He glanced at the doctor.
"Jimin has lost a substantial amount of blood, so it will be 48 hours before we can provide any updates," the doctor explained. "As for Taehyung, we had to change him to ventilator. It's difficult to predict the outcome, but even if he does recover, he may be left paralyzed, and his right arm has already been amputated."
Namjoon bit his lip, overcome with sorrow.
"Jin has passed away, and Min and his wife as well. I'm truly sorry for your loss, sir," the doctor expressed. "The police officer is showing signs of improvement."
"What about Jungkook?" Joon inquired.
"He's alive, but the young man attempted self-harm, so we placed him under observation and locked him up," the doctor revealed.
"May I see him?" Joon requested.
"Of course, please follow me," the doctor replied, rising from his seat.
Seated beside Jungkook, his neck concealed, Joon beheld the aftermath of the old, legendary assassin's strike. Instead of death, it had been a meticulously placed cut-a surgical intervention to halt the young man's fateful path, carrying the weight of his family's enduring legacy.
***********
"Why, Dad? I don't know how to cry anymore; my head feels like it's going to explode. Please, help me understand all of this, the why, the how." Yoongi pleaded, his eyes fixed on Namjoon.
"It all began with my father, Yoongi, Kim Namshik-a businessman and a criminal. He took my mother's life when I was just a child. I've spent my entire existence seeking revenge. I was twenty when my father brought a boy into our home, Seokjin, introducing the seventeen-year-old as his wife. I rescued him from that old man, and we fled our home. That's when we crossed paths with your father. For our mutual safety, we joined forces. They were connected to a mafia group, and I, too, started working for them. But my father kidnapped Jin once more. This time, the four of us mounted an attack, saving not only Jin but also a girl named Cahya. She had been pregnant by my father and gave birth to a baby boy-my Taehyung, my flesh and blood, my brother."
"So, Jiya and Hyung siblings?" Yoongi inquired, looking at Namjoon.
"No," Namjoon clarified, "Jiya is an adopted child. Cahya was only sixteen when she gave birth. We made her believe her child had died. A year later, Jeon adopted a girl."
"Why did you do that?"
"We had to make Taehyung appear as our own child to secure my father's inheritance for his grandchild. We did it for the money. It took us just two or three years to succeed. Min got married, and you were born. Then, one day, I welcomed Jiminy into my life, and it was a time of happiness. But when Jiyu became pregnant, everything took a dramatic turn. For the sake of the family, I had to send your father and mother abroad. Jungkook was born, and due to her unstable mental state during the pregnancy, it affected the child. After Jungkook was born, she spiraled into complete madness. One day, she attempted to harm Jimin, and in the chaos, Jeon accidentally took her life. We concealed her body in our home." That was the start of everything. Jin's father was a witness for everything. He started to black mail us but in the end we killed him and his wife. Also buried in Jiyu's thomb. The three Skeltons.
"When did Jungkook become like this?"
"I previously mentioned that his mother's mental state has had an impact on him. He faced difficulties from birth, and you're aware of how Taehyung and Jimin treat him, which has contributed to his current state. Jungkook attempted to harm Jiya the day before her wedding. I witnessed it and rushed her to the hospital, where she fell into a coma. We fabricated a story about her eloping with someone to cover it up."
"Why keep it a secret?"
"It's because of Jin. He's adamant that Jungkook should not be arrested by the police. We orchestrated Jungkook's marriage to Taehyung to keep him at home and begin meditation, which was helping him improve. However, the pregnancy triggered his insecurities, leading to the recent events in our home."
"But you should tell us about this, Dad..."
"Jungkook took extreme actions to silence anyone who knew about his illness, which is why we've kept it hidden."
"I don't think Jungkook can handle everything alone."
"He had assistance or can call a mentor who exacerbated the situation," Joon sighed.
"Who?" Yoongi asked curiously.
"Someone in our home, struggling with insecurities similar to our dear Jungkook. But that person has since passed away."
"Who is that, Dad?"
"It's best that you never learn that secret."
"Excuse me, Kim Jimin is now awake."
Jimina ... Yoongi runs to the icu...
Namjoon gazed out the window, the rain having already subsided. A glorious golden radiance bathed the earth, signaling the beginning of yet another enchanting chapter of his life.
"Mr. Kim, we are escorting Jungkook to the operating theatre; he is experiencing labor pains."
A faint, serene smile graced Namjoon's lips.
