In the aftermath of the painful conversation with Coach Sarah, Mary withdrew into herself more than ever before. She had put her walls up, and this time, they were even higher and colder than before. The emotional distance between them was palpable, and it didn't go unnoticed by her teammates and, most painfully, by Coach Sarah.

During training sessions, Mary's once fiery determination had been replaced by an icy indifference. She responded to Coach Sarah's instructions with curt nods and rarely exchanged a word beyond what was necessary. Her teammates exchanged concerned glances as they observed her behavior.

Millie turner:"Something's definitely off with Mary. She's not herself."

Ella toone: "Yeah, I noticed it too. She's so distant."

Coach Sarah couldn't ignore the growing divide either. It pained her to see Mary so closed off, knowing that their previous closeness had been shattered by the difficult conversation they'd had. She had never intended to hurt her goalkeeper, and now she had to watch Mary suffer in silence.

One day, as training concluded, Coach Sarah approached Mary cautiously, hoping to break through the emotional barrier that had formed between them.

Coach Sarah:"Mary, can we talk for a moment?"

Mary turned to face her coach, her expression cold and guarded.

Mary: "What do you want to talk about?"

Coach Sarah took a deep breath, choosing her words carefully.

Coach Sarah:"can see that you're hurting, Mary, and I'm truly sorry if I've caused you any pain. I never wanted things to be this way between us."

Mary's icy façade remained intact as she responded, her voice devoid of emotion.

Mary: "It is what it is, Coach. Let's just focus on the game."

Coach Sarah nodded, her heart heavy with the knowledge that the divide between them had grown even wider. She knew that mending their relationship wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to find a way to break through Mary's emotional barriers and help her goalkeeper find her way back to the passionate and confident player she once was.

As the days passed, Coach Sarah's heartbreak over the situation deepened. She knew that regaining Mary's trust and confidence would be an uphill battle, but she was willing to do whatever it took to bridge the chasm that had formed between them.

The day had arrived for a crucial match against Chelsea, one of their toughest rivals. Mary knew that this was a chance to prove herself, to regain the confidence that had been shattered by the emotional turmoil with Coach Sarah.

The game started, and Mary did her best to focus on her performance. She had worked tirelessly in training to rebuild her confidence, and her teammates had rallied around her, offering support. However, as the match progressed, Mary couldn't shake the heaviness in her heart.

In the midst of the game, Chelsea's star striker, Sam Kerr, broke through their defense with a breathtaking chip shot that sailed into the net. Mary watched the ball go in, feeling defeated. But what cut her deeper was Sam's taunt.

Sam Kerr: "Maybe you should stick to your post-game rituals with Coach Sarah, eh?"

The words hit Mary like a dagger to the heart. She had kept her feelings and the pain of her rejection by Coach Sarah to herself, but now they were thrown into the spotlight for everyone to see.

Blinded by anger and humiliation, Mary rushed toward Sam Kerr, intent on confronting her. Her teammates and Coach Sarah, who had been watching the game from the sidelines, quickly realized what was happening and moved to intervene.

Ella toone "Mary, stop! It's not worth it!"

Coach Sarah:"Mary, don't!"

They managed to hold her back, preventing her from confronting Sam Kerr, but the damage was already done. Mary's confidence, which she had worked so hard to rebuild, had crumbled once again. The emotions that she had tried to bury were now exposed, and she felt utterly vulnerable.

As the game continued, Mary struggled to focus. Her performance suffered, and Chelsea capitalized on her vulnerability, scoring another goal. The final whistle blew, and Mary trudged off the field, her head bowed in defeat.

Coach Sarah approached her goalkeeper, her eyes filled with regret.

Coach Sarah: "Mary, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen."

Mary simply nodded, unable to find the words to express the depth of her hurt. The wound was fresh, and her confidence lay in tatters once more. As she left the field, she couldn't help but wonder if there was any way to rebuild what had been shattered, not just in her career but in her heart as well.
