"yeah that'll be fine by friday and if i can cut vocals in time i'll have two more done by our meeting next week that i could play for you!"
"that's great y/n!" my manager said to me as he closed his folder with all the documents for my next album, "what you've got so far sounds incredible so keep on this wavelength"
"yeah for sure, for sure." i said as i stretched getting up from the arm chair in front of his desk.
"you're booked in room B today like usual, but hey don't stress to hard, just get a couple hours in the books and go home!" my manager said walking around the desk and patting me on the shoulder as we walked out of his office.
"you're tired! go spend some time with ariana and the baby!"
"i gotchu big J!" i replied, to which he gave me a look, knowing that what he was saying was slightly going in one ear and out the other. of course i wanted to spend time with ariana and my daughter, brooke, who had not long ago turned a year old. but something in me was telling me i just HAD to finish this album!*texts*

i'll be back at 7 maybe later"nope... nnooooo... no... hmmm, could do something with it, next." me and my producer ben we're flicking through some samples in the studio and we weren't getting far. i had finished cutting vocals for two other songs we had started this week and finished writing lyrics for two others. now i wanted to start fresh on a new track.
"wait play that back!"
ben looped the sample and it played loudly over the speakers. i grabbed my notebook and flicked around until i found something i had written but not quite perfected during the week.
"keep it going!" i called out as i picked the notebook up and hurried over to the booth. i looked up at ben and he raised his hand to signal my mic was live and i could start recording. i didn't plan for this first take to be perfect, it was just to test out melodies and how the lyrics felt.
