Context:
It's Halloween month so to celebrate, you and your boyfriend go to the movie theater to watch a latest scary movie out, only there's one tiny issue....
Y/N's POV:
Every year we do the same thing: Go to the movies to see a horror movie.
I would be fine with it if we were seeing a normal movie, like a comedy or romance, even a sad movie! But seeing a horror movie, at night, during October, just his different.
Even though I'm not too partial to horror movies, I try not to be negative so this date can stay fun. And as much as I would like to be at home doing something other than watching a horror movie, I couldn't bring myself to ruin his fun.
Changkyun looks happy as can be, ready to be jump scared on purpose. We're up in the line for the popcorn and snacks, but I don't even tell him what I want yet, he just knows. A large popcorn, two sodas, and a bag of M&Ms that will be dumped into the popcorn before the movie starts.
Seeing him happy very nearly makes this while situation completely fine. The only thing I need to be 100% good is to.. I don't know... maybe not be scared shitless for "FUN"!
While walking to our screen to take our seats, Changkyun notices my hesitation.
"Hey, babe, are you ok?" He asks, moving the popcorn and drink into one arm. His free hand gently rests on the small of my back.
With this, I slow down my walking which he follows.
"No, nothing's wrong. It's just, you know, we're watching a horror movie." I simply say.
Hearing my explanation, Changkyun smiles a little and continues us forward.
"I'll be fine, babe. It's not like you'll be watching alone, I'll be there next to you the whole time."
"You say that like we're going to the doctors office or something rather than seeing a critically acclaimed movie." I'm joking to distract myself.
Changkyun looks over. "Hey, you know we don't have to see it if you don't want to, right?" His hold on my tightens a little to get his seriousness across.
I look over to him. "I know, I know. But we already paid for the ticket and you were so excited to see this one. I can handle two hours of jump scares. I'll be fine." I assure him, but I was also mostly trying to assure myself.
Changkyun only nods in response, not really accepting my statement completely.
Walling into the theater, we find our seats and settle down, getting everything in place so it's comfortable.
The opening previews play through, and the actual movie starts.
The movie opens to some teens yalling about exploring the old, broken house on the outside of the city, which, why the hell you would do that in the first place.
The first half of the movie wasn't bad, there wasn't any huge scares or gross scenes so I was fine.
But once the teens were in the house for a while, the supernatural things started to happen. And following that, the scary scenes started.
The first jump scare almost made me drop the popcorn bucket, which Changkyun somehow caught before it fell.
After everything settled, he laughed a little at me and reached over to grab my hand, caressing the back of it with his thumb.
Since I don't watch horror movies often, I don't know when the usual ques for scares are, I'm not used to it. Because of this, I was on high alert throughout the whole movie.
But Changkyun holding my hand firmly did help keep me grounded a little.
Another 3 or 5 minutes later, Changkyun randomly squeezed my hand hard, which made me look over to where we were connected.
During that split second, the speakers of the theater let out a terrible scream as one of the teens discover a dead body or something stereotypical.
I jump a little but not as much as I probably would have.
I don't really know what happened because there's a lot going on, but we just continue watching like normal.
Though out the rest of the movie, whenever there was a jump scare, Changkyun did something different to take my attention. He pulled my hand over to him, lightly scratched my palm, brought his other hand over, or completely let go of my hand to distract me.
When the movie ended everyone in the theater started leaving, but w stayed put for a little.
Changkyun looked over to me with a small smile. He lifts up my hand and kissed the back of it softly.
"That was a good movie, it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be, right?" He asks.
I look over to him. "Actually, it wasn't. I was distracted half the time because you kept moving my hand around and stuff."
He laughs a little. "Uh, yeah. That was the point. I tried to distract you so you would miss the scares. You remember last time we watched a horror movie you couldn't sleep that night at all?"
That's what happened after last year's horror movie, it was a rough night.
Knowing that he did that throughout the whole movie just to save me from the minor trauma made my heart do a little flip.
After a second Changkyun stands up and collects our trash, reaching out his hand when he's ready to go.
"Come on, scaredy-cat. We can watch whatever you want when we get home so you can sleep easier tonight."
Hearing this I grab his hand and jump up, ready to leave now.
"Oo, we're watching the live action Little Mermaid."
He smiles and follows behind me as I lead us out of the theater. As we leave, my heart does another flip because we've watched that movie so many times already, but he sits with me everytime with no complaint. I'm so lucky.

For real though, I don't like horror movies, I can't handle them. This was a manifestation of what I wish to accomplish. But first I need a boyfriend😭
Also I've been obsessed with the new Little Mermaid movie, literally I'm going as the old ariel for Halloween this year! I'll make sure to post a picture when we get closer to the holiday.
