A/N:
So just to preface, this oneshot was a collaboration between me and my friend Bunni!
We did a roleplay of this scenario (Hop was Adrien, I was Vanny), and I decided I would transfer the roleplay into a oneshot :>
Bun also came up with the title of this, and read over this for me, so they're awesome (My friends are so cool, I love them platonically)
Here is Bunni's account, please go read their headcanon book, they're amazing: Bunni_08

Adrien carefully walked down the stairs towards the basement, trying their best to make their footsteps as quiet as possible. No one could know that they were there or the reason why. They had questions they needed answers to and only one person could provide them with those said answers.

Bryan and Dylan couldn't, but maybe she could.

'It was worth a shot,' they thought. Adrien turned the corner to see Vanny sat on the floor of her cell, fidgeting with some loose string on her suit

Vanny wrapped the blue string around her finger, tying it tight around her ring finger, and waited. It felt weird, not being human and all. Typically if she were human, and she tried this, her finger would feel numb and it would cut off circulation, but now with this suit, her hand felt perfectly fine. It was an odd detail to catch on to, but it was one she still thought of daily.

Vanny froze, a creak on the floorboards behind her setting off alarm bells in her head. She instinctively turned, inhaling a quick breath as she flinched, only to immediately relax at the sight of a certain brunette. "Oh...It's just you..."

The bunny stood up, dusting herself off after being sat on the unswept floor, and turning around to face it, crossing her arms. "What do you want?"

Adrien wanted to get straight to the point. Besides, it doubted that the rabbit would enjoy small talk anyways. "When Bryan and I talked about the past and how we want it back, you said something strange. You said that it wasn't as perfect as remembered. What did you mean by that?"

Vanny tilted her head, raising a brow at them. "...Adrien, what do you think it meant? Your childhood was not perfect, I'm sure you've gathered that already by this point," she said vaguely.

Adrien was a bit exasperated and looked at the floor, "Well, I know it wasn't perfect, but back then, it was definitely better than what's going on now." It tilts its head up at Valerie. "Right?"

Vanny's eyes softened as she looked away from Adrien, her red eyes staring at the floor. "...Adrien, I really want to say yes." She lets out a slow breath, as she looks back at it. "But I really can't...You know I can't."

Adrien's fists clenched softly as they began to rub their nails. "W-what do you mean by that exactly?"

Vanny felt her pent up anger and frustration begin to bubble over. She knew this was going to be a difficult thing for Adrien to grasp, and she hated that thought, but she knew it was true. She wished she could promise to herself to keep herself grounded, but by her breathing got heavier, she knew she wouldn't.
