Bret's POV

I walked around the town a little while, thinking about what I said to Toni. I trusted her. Why? She is still there for me even though when it was hard for her I was not there for her. She forgave me. She is a good person.

She told me that Ed, Debbie and Fred went somewhere for the Summer. Jason was still here. Toni changed a lot of people. Jason was a bully, he is now a caring brother, and a good friend.

I thought about Toni a lot. How she handled things, how she would hope for good things to happen. I liked how she would deal with life. I liked her.

I tried to hide that. I became Wendy's boyfriend when I could have been her's. I wanted a distraction, not someone that reminded me of my parents. Sometimes reminders are a good thing though. Toni is more than that though. She is funny, and tough.

She does not give up on people. A lot of people woukd have already given up on me, she did not. A lot of people would have given up on Jason, she did not.

A lot of people were going to give up on Jerry, she did not let them.

Jerry has a week to wake up. Toni did not loose it then, she just got stronger. She was probably not going to give up on Jerry, not then.

I was thinking about Toni, when I ran into her.

I noticed we were in the alley. Toni looked like she had been here a while.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Just thinking." Toni said. "What about you?"

"Walking and thinking." I said.

I then noticed that a tear was going down her face.

Toni noticed that I had noticed. She wiped it away with the back of her hand.

"A lot of things had happened." She said.

"I know." I said. I held her hand. Even the strong people could be weak sometimes.

She then hugged me. I hugged her back. We stood there like that. Her arms around my neck and my arms wrapped around her waist. I did not want to move, but I knew that we could not stay like that forever.

I let go of her, and she let go of me.

"I should go." Toni said. She then left. I then walked back to where I lived.
