One and Only

Chapter Four: Everleighn, Jill, and Jude.

"Is-is she dead?!" Jude whispers, staring at Everleighn who was face down in the dirt. He was on the verge of tears. Jill stepped forward and crouched down next to her. "No... No, I don't think so..." she said, shaking her lightly. "No! I'm not dead. Why the heck would I be dead?!" Everleighn says, her face still buried in the dirt, making her voice muffled. Jill rolls her eyes and tugs on her arm until she's in a sitting position. "Get the fu- Get up." She grunts, but pauses, not wanting to curse in front of Jude. Jude's eyes widen as he clutches his blue bunny teddy bear named Jerold to his chest. A thin stream of blood trickled from her nose could be seen clearly against her light gray fur. Jude's had a phobia of blood since the incident a couple of years ago. Jill winces and quickly goes over to him, pulling him into a tight hug to block his vision of her. "Shit! I'm sorry Jude!" Everleighn hisses, holding a gloved hand to her bleeding nose. "Brb." She mumbles to Jill and dashes into the public park bathrooms. She splashes water on the lower half of her face, washing it off. Glancing up to the mirror to check, a black wolf was in place of her, making her scream and fall back. On the ground, she crawled away from the mirror as fast as she could. No, no, no, no. This can not be happening, not now at least! She was panicking.

Everleighn was a very light gray wolf with pure white spots. She was wearing a black hoodie with black ripped jeans and navy blue converse. She took a deep breath and stood slowly, glancing cautiously at the mirror. It was gone. Thank god. She took slow, nervous motions as she continued to wash herself off. When she looked back, it was there again. She was there again. "What do you want?" She asked, trying to sound brave. "Why'd you do it? I never forgot about you either. Every night and every day I thought about y-" She was cut off by Everleighn punching the mirror so hard it shattered under her knuckles. Looking through the shards of the broken mirror, she saw the look of betrayal on her face. I'm sorry. Back outside, she grabbed Jill's hand, dragging her out of the park with Jude. "Everleighn! Please slow down! What happened?! Everleighn!" Jill yelped as she dashed across the road and pass the gates of her house. They run across the grounds and into the house. As soon as the front door was closed and triple-locked, she turned to Jill with a face full of fear and guilt. "I saw her again." Her face darkened. "You- you mean her?!" She hissed and Everleighn nodded gravely. They both notice Jude standing there completely and utterly confused. "Jude, honey, it's time for a nap. You've had too much excitement and must be tired. Now run along!" She chirped with a fake cheeriness that even Jude who was 7 could tell was fake. He stared at her, his eyes filled with questions that he knew his older sister would never answer for him. Finally, he turned and made his way up the stairs silently. Jill turned back to Everleighn. "Tell me everything."
