Chapter 2: No Longer My Home

With a bright light blinding her, a Riolu hatched from an egg and looked around curiously, only to find a blonde girl with brown eyes looking at her in wonder.

Riolu. The Emanation Pokémon. A Fighting type. Riolu can understand how people and Pokémon feel by observing a kind of wave called Aura. It has a flexible body with enough power to cross three mountains and two canyons in one night.

"Riolu, huh?" The girl said, and then smiled. "Welcome to the family, Riolu! My name is Maria! I'm gonna call you.....Laura!" Maria said.

The Riolu cheered. Then they battled trainers and other Pokémon....until Riolu evolved.

Lucario, the Aura Pokémon, and the evolved form of Riolu. A fighting and steel type. Lucario uses a power called Aura, which allows it to detect the feelings of human beings.

Rather than being proud of her new Lucario, Maria got angry. "I liked you better when you were a Riolu, Laura! I hate you! Lucarios are so weak!" Maria said, and kicked Laura—

"No!!" Laura shouted, and broke down into tears. She hugged herself and snuggled up against the corner. She curled up into a ball and started sobbing uncontrollably, as if there's a crying Sobble nearby.

I've seen dark before
But not like this
This is cold
This is empty
This is numb
The life I knew is over
The lights are out
Hello, darkness
I'm ready to succumb

I follow you around
I always have
But you have gone to a place I cannot find
This grief has a gravity
It pulls me down
But a tiny voice whispers in my mind

Can there be a day beyond this night?
I don't know anymore what is true
I can't find my direction, I'm all alone

Laura saw the window open and the curtains blow when she slowly woke up. She wiped her tears and looked at the window sadly. She looked towards the door of her room and looked at the window that showed Maria sleeping almost peacefully.

I won't look too far ahead
That's too much for me to take
But break it down to this next breath
This next step
This next choice that I'm about to make

Laura jumped out of the window, falling onto the grass as she continued to sing the song.

So I'll walk through this night
Stumbling blindly towards the light
And do the next right thing
And with the dawn, what comes then?
Is it clear that everything will never be the same again?

Now far from her so called "home." Laura looked back sadly and remembered the times when Maria used to love her as a Riolu. Then she narrowed her eyes.

Then I'll make the choice
To hear that voice
And do the next right thing

Laura started to snarl in rage and betrayal with each flashback that came. Her eyes started to turn fully red until she calmed down, and she looked at her so called "home."

Then she started to speak. "That....place, is no longer my home." Laura said, wiping her tears of leaving her birthplace. She then walked off, and after that Maria never saw Laura again.....
