Alayna's POV:
August 13th, 2003:

I unload the first few boxes from the U-haul out front and into their designated rooms, I start with the big brown box with the letters 'KITCHEN' in big bold letters, and drop it off. I decided to take a little tour of what I could now call home. So, I went upstairs into what would be my room. It's not that big but I can make it look warm and welcoming. I start to think to myself where my bed and dresser would go and all of my pictures with me and my friends from Delaware.

Suddenly, it hits me like a brick that I have to share this room with my twin sister, Shannon. I cannot believe this, we've been sharing a room since we were born, everything in our lives have been separated straight down the middle, and silly me thought moving would change that, change everything. Shannon walks in and drops four or five boxes on the ground and walks away, which just pisses me off. I don't know exactly why it does but I feel like my head is going to explode if I don't get some fresh air.

I also at the same time realize that I'm still in my pajamas, so I put on my dirty red converse, blue flared jeans, and a white tank top, and storm out of the house. You would have to be an idiot to get lost in this town since everything is basically in a straight line so I just keep walking until I see this cute little cafe type building. I read the sign, 'Luke's Hardware Store'. Hm, that's odd, it looks like a cafe to me. I decide I'm going to walk in anyway, and if I'm totally wrong, it'll be yet another strange thing in Stars Hollow.

I walk in, and my intuition was right, it was a cafe. And sitting in the front of this coffee shop is this gorgeous girl. She was wearing an off-white oversized sweater that went down to her knees and needed to be folded at the arms because it was so big, flared jeans, and black converse. I see an open stool next to her, so I impulsively decide to sit next to her. As soon as I do she looks at me and smiles, and I smile back. Then suddenly, a man in a backwards baseball hat comes up and asks what I would like to order.

"Umm, so i'm new here to Stars Hollow, so I don't have your menu memorized yet haha, i will soon though. You can guarantee me here everyday. Sorry, erm, can I have a few minutes please?" I say, embarrassed. God I absolutely hate it when I babble, I do it when I'm nervous. He nods and turns to the girl.

"Rory, the usual?" he asks her. Rory. I love that name. I turn to her again, wanting to say that, but I just end up smiling again instead. The man in the baseball hat comes back and asks for my order.

"Umm, a hot chocolate and a coffee please, no sugar or cream, thank you" I say, smiling at him at the end of my sentence, he nods once again and walks to the kitchen part of the cafe. Then, I feel someone staring at me, I see in my peripheral vision that its Rory. I ignore it, I don't mind if she stares.

"Hey, another one in this town that likes their coffee black." she says to me, she's completely facing me now, and she's prettier than I even imagined. Her bright blue eyes fit perfectly with her light brown hair, which is flowing perfectly in every direction.

I let out a little laugh, "it's the only right way to have coffee, people who put cream and other shit are wusses." She has a confused look on her face for a second and then lets out a small laugh. Great, I just completely embarrassed myself in front of this really pretty girl.

She reaches out her hand, all formal and everything "Lorelai Gilmore, but most people usually call me Rory, unless you're my mother, who's also Lorelai Gilmore.. anyways" she says with a look of embarrassment on her face. "I overheard you talking to Luke over there and I heard you're new. What grade are you in?" Her voice suits her perfectly, slightly raspy, but she also sounds sick so maybe this isn't her normal voice. Oh my god just answer her damn question Alayna.

"Alayna Moore" I say to her, grasping her hand and shaking it. "And yeah I just moved in last night from Delaware. I'm gonna be a sophomore at Chilton on Monday." As soon as I mentioned the words Chilton, her jaw dropped. Probably because it is really hard to get into Chilton. I don't even know how I got in if I'm being 100% honest. My GPA is a 4.8 which apparently is really good, I've never had a B in my life. She continues looking at me like I have nine heads. "What?" I ask, I genuinely don't know why she's surprised, do I look dumb?

"Oh nothing haha, I just applied there, hopefully I'll be accepted, normal high school is too easy and boring for me, I need a challenge." By now our orders have arrived and she's sipping on some coffee. It's really cool that she is also applying for Chilton, I mean if she gets accepted then we can become friends, and she is definitely someone I would love to have as a friend.

"Oh! That's so cool!Hopefully you get accepted" I go to say more, but my pager starts to beep. Dammit Shannon. I look back up at her again, "hey, i've got to go, my stupid sister needs help unpacking. I'll see you around Rory." I smile at her while saying her name, then I remember. "Oh, and nice name by the way, sorry that sounds weird but it suits you well." I smile to make the situation less awkward. "Thanks, I'll see you around." She smiles again, but this time was different, she wasn't smiling to be nice or to lighten up the situation to be less awkward.

That was a genuine smile. Rory Gilmore genuinely smiled at me. I grab my hot chocolate and coffee and walk all the way back home, blushing at the thought of the most perfect girl I have ever met, just sitting there at Luke's. I cannot wait to tell this too Shannon, she'll love this.
