You rolled your eyes to Hawks whistling down the hall. The bars of cage were growing colder each day, hinting the change of seasons. But it didn't matter. It's not like HE would let you out to see the weather anyway.

Yep. In a prison he kept you. You own personal cell. Lucky you.

You'd done nothing to deserve this cruel treatment. He always said that keeping you locked up was "for your protection" but you knew that was a lie.

He kept you locked away against your will so that no one else could have you. To eat, sleep comfortably, and basically just to survive in general now, you had to rely on him.

It's a shame you resisted every second of every minute.

Hawks unlocked the door of the basement he kept you in. It annoyed you to think of the extra precautions he took in case you somehow escaped your cage.

When he opened the door, you scowled, both at him and the sudden burst of light that entered the room.

He had done his best to make you comfortable, but it was hard to make things feel normal when he had to go out and buy items that made him look suspicious.

You were sitting on your way-to-small bed in your way-to-small cage. A cage that was meant for large dogs that he had painted blue, the same color as your usually-fluffy wings that you had to keep tucked in due to lack of space.

The paint was cheap and peeling because he had gotten it from a small store that no one ever went to. Better to avoid attention by shopping there.

"Hey there, kid." He spoke almost cheerfully and waited for a response.

If you had had more room in the cage you would have turned your back to him, but instead you could turn your face away and ignore him.

"Hey! I'm talking to you!"

He reached through the bars and pinched your wing making you cry out in shock and pain. You quickly pushed his hand away and scooted as far back into your cage as you could.

He sighed, clearly annoyed. 

"You're so lucky I love you, Baby Bird."

Not in the mood for more of your attitude, Hawks set down a tray of food in front of your cage and left the room, locking the door behind him.
