"Mom?" I called out when I got inside. "Hellooooo?" She's at work, again. Don't get me wrong I mean I love her and her job but a girl has to have some time with her mom, right?
When I walk into the living room I checked the clock above the fireplace. Okay I have 20 minutes then I need to pick up Thomas, my little brother from school. I made my way upstairs and took a right turn for my room. When I opened the door darkness flooded my vision, I could only see the outline of my bed, dresser, desk, and window. My hands went flying in front of me as a guide so I didn't bump into anything. Once I reached my window I yanked open my burgundy curtains and the bright light invaded my room.
I walked over to my speakers and plugged my phone in the Aux cord and put on Video Games by Lana Del Rey.I sit in my desk which is in front of my window. My window that faces Landon's.
As I sat on my desk chair my eyes locked with Landon's and I swear his stare was burning. Finally he cracked a smile and started walking to his window and opened it.
"Open." He mouthed
"No."
"Please?" He said with his puppy dog eyes. God he is adorable. I got up and walked around the side of my desk opening my window.
"What?""I'm having a couple of friends over for a get together maybe you, Jenna and Lauren can come over, yeah?" He asked, his eyes gleaming.
"Uh my mom is gonna be at the office all night so I'm going to have to babysit Tommy."
He checked his watch and his eyebrows furrowed. "Need a ride?"
"What?" I asked in confusion.
"Need a ride to pick up Thomas? Its a quarter to 3." Shit!
"Yes please." I say already backing up getting ready to close my window.
"Okay, meet by my car alright?""Alright."
I quickly close my window and run out my room, down the stairs, out the door to Landon's car.Apparently I ran fast 'cause when I got to his car he was barely locking his front door while waiting for him I leaned against the side of the car.
"Ah- Jesus you ran fast." He said when he turned around and started making his way to the drivers side.
"I really need to pick up Thomas." I say as I tug on the door handle.
"Its not open." He states.
"Well open it."
He sighs and then finally unlocks it and gets in. When I get in I put on my seatbelt and put my hand out for the aux cord.
"What?"
"The aux cord, please?" I ask.
"Ugh, fine. Better have good music."
"Please, its me we're talking about." I say as he puts the plug in my hand.
"Thank you."
I scroll through my songs and put on Needles by Blue Foundation."Seriously?" He asks.
"Um what?"
"This song?"
"Is good... Wait how do you know it?" I ask curious.
He just shrugs. "I have a varying music taste."
"Obviously..." I mutter.
There is a silence between us. Not a bad one though. It's peaceful. I lay my head on the window and let the music engulf me in it's beat as well as the sent of his car. It smells like... like pine cones and rain. It's an interesting combination or not I think as I see the car freshener hanging from his rear view mirror, and the fact that it was raining earlier. I remember when he got this car for his 16th birthday. He was so happy. It was his dad's but he felt like Landon deserved it.
"So... are you gonna come tonight? It is my birthday after all." He while turning to look at my with a smile.
"Uh I still have to take care of Thomas, ya know?"
"Well yeah but can't you ask your Nona to watch him?"
"I don't know... My mom might get mad." I tell him with an apologetic smile.
"You've spent the night at my house before." He argues.
"You're really persistent about this huh?"
"No, its just Brendon likes Jenna and Ryan likes Lauren. Sooo yeah..."
"Well that's a real confidence booster." I say.
"Haha, so yeah?" He asks, his smile breaking into his face.
"I guess, wait... do you like me?"
"Uh... ha we are here. I'd notice that little snappy dresser from anywhere." He says pulling up next to Thomas who is talking with his friend.
I roll down the window and yell to the 6 year-old.
"Get in loser, we're going shopping!"
"What?" He asks while making his way towards the car.
I roll my eyes and open the door to get out so he can get in the backseat.
"Never mind just get in." I say as he climbs over the black leather passenger seat to go into the back.
Once he sits down I get in and put on my seat belt and turn to face him.
"Click it or ticket, young man." I say pointing my finger at him.
"Okay uh but you never say that." He says putting on his seat belt.
Landon makes an obvious cough and looks at me with a smirk.
"She heard it from me." He says.
"Oh, okay uh nice I guess."
I grab my phone and put on Downtown by Kids of '88. As soon as it starts Landon starts dancing in a silly way but still driving carefully. All of a sudden Thomas starts mimicking Lando and it sends me into a fit of giggles. They will be the death of me, I swear.
xx We're getting dressed up from the waist down, if you ain't got the money, I can show you how.
