After Duro's escape from his containment cell, he found himself wandering through the dark, underground tunnels beneath the BioXenetics facility. As he walked, he heard footsteps approaching from the distance. With a pounding heart, he hid behind a nearby crate, trying to remain as silent as possible. Then he saw him - Hydro, a hydroaxal xenetic also known to be the most dangerous xenetic in the entire facility. Despite his fears, he couldn't resist the desire to interact with him. After all, he was one of the only other xenetics who understood what it was like to be trapped and experimented on, and he desperately needed a friend.

Duro hesitated for a moment before taking a step forward, his heart pounding in his chest. He cleared his throat to get his attention. "Hydro," he whispered, his voice shaking. "Can we talk?"

Hydro turned to face him, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. "What do you want?" he asked, his voice deep and raspy.

Duro took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. "I just...I just wanted to talk to someone," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Someone who understands what it's like to be trapped."

Hydro chuckled, the sound echoing through the tunnels. "I should have known," he said. "You duro xenetics are always so weak."

Duro rolled his eyes and walked away. "Weak," he repeated, the word dripping with contempt. "That's what they all say. But you're all the same. Weak."

Duro felt his throat tighten as anger welled up inside of him. "I'm not weak," he said, his voice rising in frustration. "I'm not weak!"

Hydro shrugged, the sound of his laughter lingering in the air behind Duro as he fled back down the tunnel, his heart heavy with hurt.

Duro stood in the darkness, alone once more, his heart heavy with the memories of his encounter with Hydro. He couldn't help but feel a sense of longing for a connection with someone who truly understood him, even as he knew he would never allow himself to be vulnerable like that again.

As he stood there, lost in thought, a faint sound caught his ear. It was a soft, raspy sound, almost like the sound of the wind blowing through the tunnels. He couldn't quite make out the source, but he knew it was something out of the ordinary.

Duro creeped forward, his senses heightened as he tried to pinpoint the source of the sound. As he rounded a corner, he came face to face with one of the researchers who had been assigned to study him. The man was holding a clipboard, his eyes trained on Duro as he tried to make sense of the creature before him.

Duro snarled, the sound echoing through the tunnel as he prepared to attack. But before he could make a move, the researcher held up his hand in a placating gesture. "Wait," he said, his voice trembling slightly. "I'm not here to hurt you. I just want to talk."

Duro hesitated for a moment, his muscles tensing as he considered his options. Finally, he allowed the researcher to approach him. "What do you want?" he asked, his eyes fixed on the man's frightened expression.

The researcher took a deep breath before speaking. "I want to help you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I want to understand why you are the way you are. I want to understand what makes you tick."

Duro let out a grunt of amusement. "What makes me tick?" he repeated, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. "I was made to be a monster, nothing more."

The researcher shook his head. "No," he said firmly. "That's not true. You're not just a monster, you're a being with feelings and emotions. And I want to help you learn to control those feelings, to make peace with yourself."

Duro was silent for a moment, considering the researcher's words. He couldn't remember the last time someone had spoken to him with such compassion and understanding. Finally, Duro let out a deep, gravelly laugh, his eyes still fixed on the man before him. "What makes you think I want your help?" he whispered, his voice dripping with contempt. "I am what I am. Nothing more, nothing less."
