You pressed your back down on the soft creme leather of the sofa you were seated on, outstretching to take up the whole seat. You and your roommates had decided to keep the decor relatively the same except for personal spaces such as beds. Though since You, Mika and Ritsu had a tendency to sleep in the same bed together often, the other two were used mostly for storage of plushies.
Mika was off in France, visiting his beloved, which left you and Ritsu alone. It didn't bother either of you, and in fact having Mika gone a few days meant more time to spend one on one, a rare occurrence that you both reveled in. He was on the other side of the room retrieving you both beverages to curl up and watch a movie with. As you scrolled through the endless movies on the built-in streaming site Yumenosaki provided, you heard a disgruntled sound leave your roommates lips.
Curiously, your head craned to see over the edge of the couch. Your eyes landed on his slender back, stooped over the fridge. From around him you could only see the ample supply of water and soda. His oversized knit sweater hung off his back in a way that made you immediately miss his cozy embrace.
"Everything good?" you called to him.
"Hardly," he muttered. He stood up straight and swung the door closed. "We're out of my stuff."
You frowned. "How'd we run out of blood?" A few years ago you would've never expected yourself to say those words. Both Mika and you were very okay with Ritsu's special condition. He rarely needed to drink the stuff anyways and he never asked either of you to provide.
"Not sure, I guess I knew we were getting low a while ago."
"And you didn't go out to get more?"
He frowned at the scornful tone you spoke in. "I was so tired," he explained.
Your gaze softened as he came closer to you, a soft whine leaving his voice as he pouted. "You're always tired," you remark.
His whine grew louder as he slouched over the side of the couch, his wispy hair tickling your arm. You sighed before reaching out and petting his hair. "I should go get some, I have a pretty heavy rehearsal later today."
You sighed, closing your eyes. Just another thing cutting into the little time the two of you had. You couldn't accompany him to the hospital just outside of the campus afterall, having a very human companion just made the retrieval more difficult. If it was the kind of thing that didn't require a bunch of work on his part, he'd no doubt have Mika, Mao and yourself carrying the task out for him.
"I don't want you to go," you told him, petting his head more as if to encourage him to stay.
His crimson eyes flitted over to you before he sent you a lazy smile. "I'm afraid you don't have much of an option but to let me go."
You stuck your lower lip out in much the same way he had just moments before. Your gaze traveled to the TV screen, playing a trailer to a movie you'd already seen silently. The timing of it all really sucked but perhaps hope wasn't completely lost. You looked back to him, meeting a curious gaze. No doubt Ritsu was analyzing your body language since you weren't speaking.
Pushing his head down lightly to break him out of his intense stare, you posed a question. "What if you just... drank from me instead?"
His head snapped up and his eyes studied you even more closely. "No."
Your jaw hung for a few moments, staring incredulously. "What? Why?"
Ritsu shrugged. "I don't want to."
"You'd rather leave me here for hours than solve the problem in two seconds?" you asked.
For the first time he sighed. He stood from his slouch and came around the sofa to sit near your feet. You pulled your legs to your chest, making space for him. "I can't do that," he told you.
