Moon knocked over the plant. The silver plate carrying the weight of this peculiar plant broke. Dirt scattered across the wide carpet floor. And the plant was gone.
Eris's lips formed a sad smile, "I guess Luna's left me too" she chuckled to the clumsy cat. He sat at the door with guilty blue eyes staring into hers.
"Moon" she sighed, "why did you have to knock over this of all things." Tears formed, slid down her cheek and hit the floor. Guess it's just you and me now, Eris thought while wiping her tears, rising from the bench she had been stationed at for half the day. Dreaming.
Eris hated to dream. To think about the joyous possibilities of life, to think that maybe one day she could be as happy as the girls she saw flourishing around her. The universe had already given her the answer, no. Life will always be a pitiful tragedy for Miss. Eris Grey, so hoping for a better future was pointless and only led to disappointment.
But sometimes Eris's mind would betray her and wander. It would journey back to those memories she'd rather leave forgotten, into those suppressed emotions, and find the childhood dreams she had disregarded. Those painful dreams that life ripped from her heart and torn. Those beautiful, innocent dreams of a child who just wanted to live, and knew nothing of the cruelties of this world.
Once in a blue moon her dreams would return.
Once in a blue moon she would sit on her mother's bench.
Once in a blue moon she would remember her mother rocking her back and forth on that very bench telling her everything would be ok.
Once in a blue moon she would remember that little girl. That beautiful happy little girl who only saw wonder in this world.
Once in a blue moon she experienced the excitement and joy of dreaming.
And then she thought about death.
The death of her parents, her sister, her best friend, the death of her soul, even her plant.
Once in a blue moon she remembers why she will never dream again.
Eris Grey is a tragedy.
That will never change... all she can do now is smile and suppress the pain.
She swept the dirt of the carpet to the best of her ability, vacuumed the floors and left.
Leaving the destroyed plant lying on the ground.Late that night, the car awoke at the sound of a car parking. Moon hurried to the window ceiling to find the cause of all the noise and saw his owner holding something big.
Only a few minutes later the door opened. Eris, who now looked completely worn, took off her shoes with one hand. She slowly made her way to the kitchen and set down the big item taking up her left hand, finally revealing the mysterious item. A plant.
"Moon..." she wearily whispered, "meet our new friend, Solar."
