As Scaramouche sat down to to eat with the others, his phone rang.

He picked it up to check who it was. Upon seeing the caller ID, his eyes widened a little.

"I'll be right back," he hastily said, standing up to go into the kitchen, "I gotta take this."

Everyone nodded and went back to their conversations.

~~~~
Why was she calling me? Did she need something? She never calls me.
I trembled a little as I picked up the call.
"Hello? Mother?" I murmured.
"Good afternoon, Kunikuzushi." Her elegant voice replied.
"Do you need something?"
"I heard about the new collaboration between you and that other group."
"What about it?"
"It's been so long. Why haven't you given up on this whole idol thing yet?" She scolded.
"Whatever are you talking about?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"I'm saying, that you should just quit it already. It's pointless and not even a real job."
"Mother, music has always been my passion." I argued.
"A passion that you're terrible at. Honestly, I wish you were more like Shogun — she's in high school and already the top of her school. When you were her age, you were only second." She spat.
Her words outraged me. I was fighting back tears; I wanted to scream at her. To tell her that she was wrong. However, although she didn't act like it, she was my still biological mother and she would get even more angered if I did so.
In the end, I couldn't prevent the tears from slipping down my cheeks. "I- oh." Was all I could stutter out as I pulled my phone away from my face as to prevent her from hearing my sobs.
However, that was futile for she still heard them nonetheless.
She scoffed and replied, "Are you crying? You're such a sensitive boy, you know? I've had enough of this, see you."
With that, she hung up the call and the line went silent.
I dropped to my knees, phone falling onto the ground in the process and started sobbing quietly.
Then, a loud rustling near the door of the kitchen caught my attention.
My heart dropped when I saw [ y/n ]. How long had she been standing there?
You were stunned by what you had heard and even more by what you had seen.
Scaramouche? The guy who acted all smug and arrogant? Hyperventilating and tears streaming down his cheeks? There was no way.
"You can laugh if you want."
"I won't. What's wrong? You can talk to me.." You came closer to him.
"It's just- I-," He sobbed, "I try so hard but she's never proud of me."
You didn't know who this "she" was but you nodded and listened attentively.
You could tell that he had been dealing with a lot.
You weren't the best at comforting but tried your best to help him.
"Scaramouche? Please forgive me for doing this but," You apologized.
"What?"
Then, you wrapped both arms around him, letting him rest his head on your shoulder.
"I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. Please don't think that no one loves you because a lot of people do; like me, Xiao, Dainsleif and the others. Please don't push yourself so hard, you're enough. Scaramouche, I'm so proud of you."
Hearing your words, his sobs got even louder as he buried his head into your shoulder, muffling them.
"It's alright to cry, let it all out."
" [ y/n ], thank you." He choked out.
I remember the first time I saw her.
As if a magic spell had been cast upon me, my heart started beating faster and fluttered in my chest.
It was like a moment straight out of a romance novel. What was the term called? Love at first sight?
She had seen me staring at her, and shot a smile at me.
It was the prettiest smile I had ever seen — an actually genuine smile.
Suddenly, everything else in the world didn't matter anymore.
I badly wanted to talk to her, but was always too shy to do so.
So I just admired her from afar, admiring her delicate features. I was absolutely smitten.
I've always longed for her love and affection so I silently prayed that one day, she would reciprocate these deep feelings.
[ y/n ], I've loved you since the start.
~~~~

"Oh hey you guys are back," Heizou smiled.

"Scara, are you alright your eyes seem a little red." Kazuha asked, worried about his friend.

"I'm fine. Something just got into my eye so I kept rubbing it." He lied, avoiding eye contact.

Of course, you knew that he was lying.

"Ah, alright." Kazuha knew he was lying but decided not to pry anymore into the situation.

" [ stage name ], what about the paper towels that I asked for?" Venti asked.

"I forgot."
