A blinding white light is the last thing you'd expect when it looks like it's about to rain.
In the direction of your two broken households appears an intense burst of white light. It scorches your exposed skin as you attempt to shield your eyes with your uncovered arms.
The thunderous blast pummels your eardrums, and the vibration knocks you over, exposing your face to the light. It feels as if a razor blade was cutting the entire surface of your face at the same time. The vibrating concrete pavement is like coarse sandpaper rubbing against your hands and arms. The oven-hot wind blasts you, along with a splash of scalding dust.
As the chaos stops, you look up. Your eyesight and hearing are significantly worse, but you can see the buildings falling apart in the distance. You estimate that the two apartments you live in are also part of the rubble now.
You painfully get up and turn around, maybe you'll run into a friend who can let you stay over. You take out your phone only to see "No Service" at the corner of the screen, the explosion must've destroyed necessary infrastructure.
You start walking opposite of the explosion and hope to see a familiar face.
