Niall grasped my hand in his, determination prominent as he pulled me from the basement and up the short staircase so I was once again immersed in the bright strobe lights and thumping music but he paid no attention to anyone or anything.
He kept a tight hold on my hand, never faltering as he weaved both our bodies through the thick crowds without hesitation. Confidence seems to radiate off of him, I don't know why I'd assumed him staying in the basement meant he was anxious about being upstairs immersed in the party but his attitude right now is proving me wrong.
My mind was spinning as he rushed me out of the house, the front lawn still covered in people who'd spilt from the party to either get air or make out while they waited for a ride. Cool air smacks me in the face quickly, I inhale and savour the feeling of the coolness entering my lungs.
I continued to be tugged down the path, following mindlessly behind Niall without a care in the world as I took in the night surrounding me. I wonder what time it is? I wonder where Zayn is? Hopefully, he's found someone to hang out with for the night and doesn't miss me too much.
Our feet rush down the short gravel drive towards the quiet road, the thump of the music fading behind us with every step. He reaches into the back pocket of his black skinny jeans to grasp his phone that's tucked snuggly in the material as we reach the sidewalk where we pause, my feet stumbling a little over themselves and knocking into Niall's side. He wraps his arm around my waist to stabilise me, our fingers no longer interlocked and my palm misses the warmth of his skin.
"M'calling us a taxi." He murmurs almost to himself, the volume indicating it wouldn't have mattered if I never heard, my heavy eyes watching his side profile as he stares down at the device in his other hand.
I hum in response, letting him know I heard. He brings his phone up to his ear as he rings a company. I shut my eyes in an attempt to relieve some of the heaviness but the smile never leaves my lips as I stand blissed out in the moment, happy to be standing right here ready to go back to his dorm.
He speaks down the phone, trying to mask the slight slur from the alcohol in his system. I almost laugh at how he sounds because it's blatantly obvious he's drunk, my cheeks beginning to ache from the brightness of my grin. I continue to peer up at him as he hangs up, sliding his phone back into his pocket before he looks down and his bright blue eyes widen slightly.
"Avy..." He breathes, placing his now free hand onto my opposing side and spinning me around so I'm standing in front of his body while peering up under my lashes with a small grin.
My fingers run down the thin material of his white tank top, dancing my fingertips along his chest and hearing him suck in a sharp inhale as he watches my actions intently. "Niall..." I smirk, flicking my eyes away from his gaze down to where I'm touching him so lightly.
I feel his light touch on my chin, slowly tilting my head backwards where our eyes reconnect. He pulls me in by my chin, our lips grazing for a mere second before he can't hold himself back and kisses me properly, a heavy exhale leaving my lips at the intense feeling.
