I

I stood there motionless. I stood there with my hands covered in blood as the paramedics carried my father to the ambulance. I was confused, I was scared, I was angry and I was a little bit excited. I had stabbed my own father.
"It was for self defense."
I told myself.
But was it really? I mean yeah, I was trying to stop him from hurting me but part of me had always wanted him gone for good after he murdered mom and lied it was an accident and I swore to avenge her death.

I knew he wouldn't survive-well I hoped he wouldn't. I made sure he bled for a long time before calling the police.
As I stood there with blood dripping from my hands and my white turned red t shirt, a weird lady came into the house. She was yelling at me but I couldn't hear a word she uttered. It felt like I was in another world or something. She held a folded blanket which used to cover me and pull me over to the couch. She was still talking but I couldn't hear her, I could only see her lips moving- that was until I heard my late mom's name. It felt like I had resurrected or something.
"Hey are you okay?" She asked after noticing the startled look on my face.
"Uhh yeah" I replied quickly. "You-you mentioned my moms name did you know her from anywhere?" I asked with keen interest
"Oh yes we were good friends "
"Really?" I asked with no enthusiasm .
She took my hands and said "look, everything will be alright. I know you're scared but it's going to be fine." She smiled warmly at me and I nodded giving off a half smile.
Then I sat there, staring at nothing, thinking of what had just happened while this lady continued her assurances. My trip to 'thought-topia' was interrupted a short paramedic who whispered something to my mother's "friend" and she replied with a slow nod.
After the paramedic left she turned to me and said "Amarae, come on let's go"
"Huh?" I was confused. "Go where?"
"Just follow me."
So I did. Something in my gut told me I could trust her.
We left the house and I saw the ambulance parked outside. Seeing it gave me goosebumps-well the thought of who was in it gave me goosebumps. We walked over to a black SUV and she told me to get in. I was a bit nervous but I just ignored it.
As we drove off, I kept looking back at the ambulance, scared that that monster would jump out and hurt me.
