Twas a chilly Autumn night, the dark world outside lit solely by the pale moon's glow. Faint shadows of almost bare trees dance across the fogged glass of your bedroom window. It's warm inside - cozy, even, and the orange light emitted by your bedside lamp combined with the scent of the Pumpkin & Maple candle on your window sill is enough to give you that all too familiar Autumn feeling as you cast your gaze towards the cold, harsh streets just behind that frosted pane.
Today was a long one. Between several overdue assignments and the stress of a part-time job, you can't help but give in to that tired feeling, the kind that wells and sits there in the bottom of your chest, much like how you're slouched against the head board of your lonely bed. You let out a heavy, much-needed sigh to temporarily relieve that burden, only to have it return even heavier than before.

Ah, yes, the time. The digital clock set beside your lamp displays 23:06 when you glance over to the sound of yet another wasted minute. You've never been the extroverted type. Nor the most attractive for that matter - or at least that's how you see it. The yearn for a loving relationship is stronger than ever as of late. Anyone would do it at this point. Literally anyone-Thump. Bump. Thump thump bump.
A gentle rapping arises from the silence. Actually, it's more of a tapping or fumbling. A haphazard and abrupt knocking, a sound like that of a drunkard stumbling about the dark.
Bump bump thump. Bump bump.
'Is that.. coming from outside..?' You think to yourself, your curiosity piqued by the odd noise. No. It's closer than that, like just outside your window. You rise from your boredom-comatose to investigate, woollen blanket draped about your shoulders.
As you approach the window, you notice the silhouette of a looming figure through the condensation on the glass. You can't quite make out what it is. Maybe your friends decided to pay you a late night visit? That's absurd, no, they'd have to somehow scale the front of your house to reach your room upstairs, and even so, what business would they have here at a time like this?Tap tap. Tap.
You reach for the window's latch to greet whatever was disturbing your otherwise uneventful evening...
