A/N: My Mid-Terms are finally over!!! I had some time to kill, so here I am!! Enjoy ;)

Kabir's POV

Eight Years Ago

I'm stuffing the last of my stuff in my backpack when I hear the door open. I sigh in defeat. It's probably Dad here to tell me again how important this is for him. How I shouldn't screw this up for him. 'Cause that's what things have always been about in this household, hasn't it? Just him.

I turn around, only to stumble back from the force of knuckles connecting with my jaw. Yep. Definitely not Dad. Pain sears against my cheek and I instantly taste metal in my mouth. I wipe my hand against my mouth, and sure enough, it's crimson. I glance up at Ranvijay, who looks nearly ready to tear me apart limb from limb.

This. This is the exact reason why I didn't tell him everything in advance. If Ashvi had seen me black and blue, she would've asked questions. And I may have led her to believe that we were done and that I didn't love her anymore, but there is no fucking way I was going to lie to her face.

"Hey, listen, man, I-" Vij cuts me off with a threatening step, his look feral. "Shut up, Bir," He spits out. I raise my hands in a show of surrender, nodding. If there's one thing you can depend on Vij to do, is pick a fight. That's how he copes. Everything from a harmless prank to a deadly brawl had only solution in his eyes. Pick a fight. The bigger the opponent, the greater the distraction.

"You promised to just talk, Vij," Veer saunters into the room, his hands shoved in his pockets. He looks almost bored as if being here is a waste of his time. "Guys, I-" Another step. "Shut up before I kill you with my bare hands," I sigh, nodding. This needs to end. Dad's gonna be home anytime.

"Just talk, Vij," Vij's gaze turns to Veer, almost as venomous as it was when he looked at me. His anger isn't directed at me. Nor at Veer. Right now, Vij is after the life of the one bastard who broke his little sister's heart. Anyone coming in the way of his revenge is an enemy. "You planning a trip somewhere?" Veer peeks at the backpack on my bed. It's a long story," I run a hand along my face, already growing tired of this. If they would just hear me out, they'd know that I had little choice in this. I'm not anymore ecstatic to leave behind the one thing that makes me genuinely happy to play my Father's puppet.

Veer makes a show of checking his watch. "We've got time, right, Vij?" Vij still looks livid, his unkempt energy rolling off of him in waves. "Start talking," He grumbles. I'm surprised that Veer of all people is the one holding Vij off of me right now. Vij might share the same blood with Ashvi, but she's felt the most at home with Veer. He was like the unofficial member of the girls' group.

Vij is the typical 'Father Pleaser' like me. I mean, he practically worshipped at that man's feet. He, like his Father, was a man of rigid principles. Everything was just, black and white with him. No exceptions, no deviations whatsoever.

My Ashvi on the other hand, was a stark contrast. She is the most curious, open-minded person I've ever known. She never took things at face value, always questioning, something brewing in that gorgeous head of hers.

"Start talking, Bir. Our patience only runs so thin," Veer's voice pulls me out of thought. I nod, plopping on my bed. And I start talking. I just talk, I don't know where to begin, or where to end it, so I just keep going. Everything, Dad, his bankruptcy, his deal, my role in all of it. I don't stop until I get everything off of my chest. It's like a huge weight lifts off my shoulders, finally having talked to someone.

The only thing I leave out is my part of the plan. I might be leaving for now, but I plan on returning as soon as possible. And I sure as fuck plan on taking back what is rightfully mine.

A/N: Also, the math ain't mathing, guys. I've got like a 130 views, which makes me happy at such an early stage in the book, but only 11 likes? Come, now.

That's no way to show your appreciation. Let's bring that count up to at least 65? That's plausible, right? Knew you'd do it! Love ya, guys! Next update soon ;)
