I don't remember thinking or feeling anything. My head felt like mush and my legs had a really bad case of pins and needles.
I opened my eyes- Christine was staring at me again, which was really unnerving; I considered asking her to sit down and have a nice cup of tea, just so those intense eyes wouldn't stare at me with such agitation.
"Tony!" She yelled. " Don't black out just yet, OK? The ambulance would be coming soon, and if you die I'm gonna kill you."
I didn't really register what happened later on. I was just trying to figure out how my wife was going to kill me if I was already dead.

I knew I was going to die. Yesterday Death seemed a long way off, but today it seemed to become my friend.
I thought of all those movies and books that made Death look so glorified, that you would get to see your family and friends for the last goodbyes; but the truth was that Death was an inevitable bully that hardly gave you the chance to leave with good memories.
