Chapter 1: first encounter

Emily had just finished her college class early, and her excitement couldn't be contained. She decided to surprise her sister Sam at her soccer training session. She knew Sam would be thrilled to see her there.

As Emily arrived at the training ground, she spotted the familiar faces of her sister's teammates, all focused and determined. Sam was in the middle of a drill, sweat glistening on her brow as she chased the ball. Emily stood at the sideline, patiently waiting for a break in the practice.

"Emily! What are you doing here?" Sam exclaimed, giving her sister a quick, sweaty hug.

"I got out of class early, thought I'd come surprise you," Emily replied with a grin.

"That's amazing! I've missed you," Sam said, genuinely thrilled.

As Emily chatted with Sam, she couldn't help but feel her heart race when she noticed Charlie Grant, the star player, walking over to join their conversation. She had always admired Charlie's talent on the field and had a bit of a crush on her, which made her a bit nervous.

"Hey, Sam. Who's this?" Charlie asked with a warm smile, extending a hand to Emily.

"This is my little sister, Emily," Sam introduced. "Em, meet Charlie Grant, our superstar forward."

Emily felt her cheeks flush as she shook Charlie's hand. "Nice to meet you, Charlie. I've heard a lot about you."

"Likewise, Emily. It's great to have you here," Charlie replied, her eyes meeting Emily's for a moment longer than necessary, sending a rush of butterflies through Emily's stomach.

As they continued talking, Emily couldn't help but feel her blush intensify whenever Charlie's attention shifted her way. She was trying her best to act natural, but her crush on Charlie made it difficult to keep her composure.

Charlie, sensing Emily's shyness, made an effort to include her in the conversation. They talked about soccer, school, and life in general, making Emily feel more comfortable with each passing moment.

The practice resumed, and Sam went back to her drills, leaving Emily and Charlie to chat further. Emily realized that Charlie was not only an incredible soccer player but also a genuinely kind and friendly person.
